hopefully one day you will learn the difference between revenues & gross/net profits smile

@Cde there is what we call segmental revenue analysis....banks have two revenue streams..interest income and non interest income...

Ok @Cde here is the deal...Net interest income (NIC) +non interest income=total operating income

For KCB's 1H results...

Subtract the Sh1.3 Billion they earned from forex from the Non interest income segment and add with NIC to get your Total operating income and then subtract total operating expenses you will get your PBT then compare it to last years PBT...then you will see magnitude of this forex saga to KCB.

this year i wager they make more as will most banks, spreads are wider from 10bp now 50bp, biggest gainer-banks, biggest looser-wider economy which includes you!

It remains to be seen how KCB will cope in 2012 without the forex billions since CBK has gotten fed up with their gambling habits, the lion shall retreat to his cave and never Roar...smile

please explain how cbk have done this? assume kcb has a t/o of usd 10mio at a bid/offer spread of 10 cents they make kes 1mio at least...at a bid/offer of 50cents they make kes 5mio...replicate this scenario across the industry and tell me how banks FX incomes will be affected

Q&A...you have not answered my question above..please calculate KCB's 1H 2011 PBT without forex income & then compare it to 1H 2010 smile

Equity has bottomed. You dnt need to be a prof to know that. W/ such crazy price action at 17 bob level we might never see 13 bob. It seems that 17 bob level is a sweet spot for smart money. I wonder why kcb isnt getting the same kind of love.
