Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a long time coming!!! Thank you for bringing the world record marathon title back home!!!

This record can be taken below 2hrs 3 minutes. Makau had a very relaxed solo run in the last 6km and the energy he showed in celebrations after the run shows he has the potential to push that limit.

I cannot wait for the Olympics. The current crop of Kenyan marathoners is the best on the planet not just now but it is the best in the history of running. Kenyans already hold 15 of the worlds 20 fastest marathon times ran this year alone. We now have two sub 2 hr 4 minute times in Patrick Makau's world record 2hr 3hrs 38 seconds and Geoffrey Mutais 2hrs 3hrs 2 seconds worlds fastest in Boston. Duncan Kibet and Emmanuel Mutai have run 2:04s and people like Kwambai and Lel are hovering around 2:05s but given the right weather and course can dip that further.

Summers are not the best times for world record pace but Abel Kirui did not have a problem running a 2:07 in Daegu not to mention that he ran almost half of the distance alone. Get 3 or 4 of these guys in the Olympics and its not just an Olympic title that we will be celebrating but an Olympic record and hopefully a Gold, Silver,Bronze and Copper in the mens marathon.

This is the most gruelling sporting challenge that any athlete can undertake and Kenyans are the best in it. No we are not just the best....... we dominate!!!! It is something that we should be very proud of!!! These guys make me extremely proud to be Kenyan!!!
