Has anyone compare these two internet services from orange?

Internet Everywhere 3G is the new GSM based service, while Internet Everywhere 3G+ is the older CDMA based.

I have the latter and I am considering taking advantage of the current special offer on the former.

I have used both and I can confirm that the Orange GSM 3G high speed is quite fast, much faster than the 3G CDMA. The former is also faster than Safaricom 3G.

I haven't tried the Safaricom new high speed modem going for Shs 9999.

Just remember that the 500MB preloaded must be used within 7 days.

Hmmmn @mukiha, respectfully, you have asked many tech questions previously but I figure you are generally hard to advise.

Perhaps because there are many know-it-alls/quacks/hidden interests on Wazua so it's hard to siphon truth from fiction.

1. 3G vs 3G+
Much ado about nothing. For all I know, the + must have been added as a marketing decision just to give the impression of the extra oommph! I have the new Orange 21mbps modem and has several references to 3G+

2. King of data
Too much bullcrap from everyone. Buy the new black Orange 21mbps modem, after checking the 3G coverage map, as it's the fastest modem by a margin. I still can't get over the fact YouTube doesn't buffer any more - mind boggling.

In fact if it doesn't work, I could refund half the modem amount in the Wazua spirit.

Going by the advice given here, I bought the new Orange 3G modem; and what a disappointment!!!

It is the slowest connection I have ever had; much slower than the old Zain modem.

This thing has taken the last 15 minutes to load the Yahoo mail page! And I am using it right inside the CBD. Useless waste of money!

I am now waiting for the Orange shop to open so that I can return the gadget to them and claim a refund... wish me luck.

In the meantime I back to the old Orange 3G+ (CDMA)

@mukiha just saw your reply/experience, my sympathies, pole! Were you able to get a refund?

Did you check the 3G coverage map as advised before purchase? Did you at least try out the modem in the shop? Based on your experience, you must be using the modem with green light, as opposed to blue (3G) light.

YES; the light is green and the interface reads "EDGE". I am mainly located around Jeevanjee gardens...

The refund? It's easier to pull the teeth of a 10-year-old!

Hahaha...have just tested my Orange 3G+. It's crap!

How does orange expect customers to put up with such speeds while safcom is giving 2mbps plus? 1k buys you 1Gb orange at that snail speed while the same 1k gets you 1.5Gb safcom at superfast speed. Expect orange to die a natural death soon.
