Its said there are 25 million subscribers and at least 18% are not registred...and according to the President, they should be switched off...

1 - Assuming the 18% is applied proportionately according to market share e.g. SCOM has 68% market share i.e. 17 million subscribers, so it stands to shed abt 3 million subscribers - what will be the impact of this if...
2 - It affects how much the company can grow its network? If no more casual/unregistered users can be allowed, it will inhibit how well an operator can grow its subscriber base.
3 - In the MNP environment, will not most multiple SIM users have to decide which network to stay with? I have three airtel lines (one for data) and one orange data line - but seriously, I only feed one airtel voice line and the orange data line).

Ditto other operators - but perhaps the example of safaricom makes sense under the stocks heading.

I feel this will lower numbers and ergo shore up ARPU for the operators...with other operators it may result in better quality of service in terms of less congestion.

Maybe the 'big switch off' will ease congestion/network maintenance costs stopping them from raising call prices as they intend tosmile

Finally the telcos get to hike rates & the consumer bites the dust.
Airtime is part of the inflation basket. Guess what that does to the inflation rate...
$15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!
