@Newhere: You seem to be well coversant with TV technology. Help me with this. These days I am seeing announcements like ' You can watch this program on HD'. What does this mean? I know HD means High definion. Is this available in Kenya?

@magigi:

HD broadcasting means way better picture quality and surround sound output from TV broadcasts.

In Kenya no one is broadcasting in HD yet - DSTV is supposed to be starting soon and KBC to do a pilot run soon. The govt has set a deadline for mid 2012 by when all Kenyan channels will go digital (start broadcasting in HD and stop analog broadcasting)

Hope this helps

Correction,HD and digital broadcasting is not the same thing. Digital broadcasting means the signal transmitted is digital. Being digital means less inteference,better picture and sound,and most importanly you are not restricted to the number of channels available (A crude example,you can get as many as 400 channels on DSTV,but is restricted to about 60 in analogue). HD is digital,but with MUCH MUCH better picture and has sounds out of this world. PS3 is in HD,so is blu ray,the latest format in digital recording. In order to get the full HD experience,several stars have to be aligned,you need the TV,the player (blu ray/PS3),the surround speakers,the correct room layout etc. A puff of the weed also enhances the experience........
