I disagree. We should 'compensate' them. 14 years @ kamiti with hard labour,or a fine equivalent to the money they made from sale of timber and charcoal.

its all about politix of numbers....bypass victims,100 and a total loss of ksh 3b worth of real estate investment (houses) and mau forest,20,000 and a total loss of kshs 20m (development on the land as land was free)...translating these in terms of votes,who is important? you guessed it right!!!

As correctly noted here,RAO has personally set a precedent of not compensating victims (knowing or otherwise) of irregular dealings with the government. When his voting block is affected,worst still sell them for a new one,suddenly he throws this precedent out of the window,not for the benefit of tax paying Kenyans who will be billed for this to the tune of hundreds of millions if not into the billions but for his personal political mileage.

However,ignorance is popular and he is the most popular politician! Let us not confuse his pursuit for Statehouse with feigned interest in the well being of Kenyans.

Did anyone catch the preposterous statement by isaac ruto yesterday in parliament? He said that if govt burns the houses of those settled in the Mau then they should not be blamed if they do the same to other innocent peoples properties in retaliation. If that is not incitement then i don't know what is. Why the hell are we pampering these fools?!

The point is simple,the government - correction - the tax payers - should NOT compesate a single soul before they are evicted from Mau. The best the government should do is to assist those who bought the land from the politicians to recover their money. I know the justice system works very slowly in Kenya,but believe you me,if the government has the will to follow up the guys who subdivided the land and sold it,within one year they will have helped recoup the money! That money ended up with individuals. Why should tax payers be the ones to carry this budden while the fat cats seat on their loot? Bure kabisa!
Does that mean I can grab any public land provided I sell it before the reposession process begins? That way the guy I sold to gets compesated,I keep my money and everyone is happy. Apart from the ka-small nuisance called the tax payer!!!!

Those occupying the land should infact pay for the rehabilition of what they spoilt. Where is michuki..
