So far, the way i understand it is like this,
orange/telkom had CDMA, and they launched EVDO on top of the same CDMA technology , and this is what they have been marketing as 3G+,
That's why their 3G+ service is only available in certain few areas even though voice GSM has wider coverage
So, what they been having is 3g+ running on CDMA/EVDO technology and their modems are CDMA/EVDO, Please note that they provide voice on a GSM, so they've always had their data(3G+) and voice technology on different platforms
What they launched jana, i believe was 3G on GSM,
somebody correct me if i've made a mistake,
so, from my understanding, to enjoy the 3G they launched jana, you'll need a new modem , but now you can enjoy faster speeds on your regular GSM phone
PS. so what's the future of CDMA/EVDO in the country, who know's what happened to the other players in that market segment i.e. Popote wireless and flashcom
