If Alex and Malouda weren't good enough in Chelsea, why would Arsenal need them?.....I also think you are reading too much tribal football..lol. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

All reports are indicating that we've signed Brazilian Andre Santos as our new left back. Frankly i don't care whether he's good or not we just need experience and depth at the back...Gibbs is good but a bit injury prone. Hii mambo ya switching Sagna to the left i don't like it at all. Jenkinson should be Sagna's replacement, he's very talented but needs time. @ Njung'e, Cahill, Alex or Jagielka....one of these three will be our new Centre back. I don't have an issue with either of them but i'd prefer Alex because he's done it all before. Chelsea don't need him because they have Terry, Luiz and Ivanovic,I don't think its a matter of form. He was Chelsea's best defender last season before his injury. I said here sometimes back that what Arsenal need is a change in coaching staff. Wenger is very good in spotting & developing young talent but his skills are only limited to good attacking football. We need an assistant coach to train the team on defensive play. Its time we got rid of Pat Rice and replaced him with Ray Wilkins or Steve Mould (Youth Team). Rice was totally clueless in the CL first-leg match with Udinese. I aslo think we need to appraise our medical team. its a pity we lost our Physio Gary Lewin to the England Team. All our players take longer to recover from injury than other teams. http://www.skysports.com...28,12876_7137378,00.html

Well after messing things up at the back Armand Traore has been sent packing to QPR...the only thing i can say is good riddance!!
It seems the two loses (Liverpool & Man Utd) might have hit Wenger really hard. The club is working round the clock to get new players before the deadline tomorrow. If only he'd listened to what the fans were saying before the end of last season. I know we have signed a striker (Young Chu Park ) from Monaco and will probably get two defenders (LB & CB) but my i'm waiting to see who Wenger will get in the midfield. Hazard is definitely out of the picture.

Well tomorrow is the transfer deadline and from what i saw last year same time anything is possible.....never thought Van Der Vaart would end up at Spurs. So here are the rumous ARSENAL....Santos and Park Signed. Malouda, Alex, Cahill, Jagielka, Mertesacker, Benayoun, Martin & Johnson all Linked. My opinion: Mertesacker's fee is around 6m and Alex 10m, Cahill alone would cost us in excess of 15m.....why not have two for the price of one? Only Wenger knows. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sp.../football/14717213.stm?
Chelsea...Modric still possible, Bid rejected for L'pool Meirelles, Stoke want Lukaku (on Loan), Lille want Kalou Man Utd...Well they did their transfers early but Sneijder has just indicated that he'll stay at Inter and there's also a very interesting bid from Anzhi Makhachkala for Nemanja Vidic. It would be a mistake to sell him but i think SAF will eventually get rid of him might even be in January.

@ Njung'e...I know you won't like this but Arsenal have settled on Per Mertesacker as their new Centre Back, it remains to be seen whether we'll get another one. So far Arsenal have Park, Santos and Mertesacker...
I think he'll be a great addition to the team.

I concur with u...This English players are expensive for nothing. Cahill is a normal defender and has one year left to his contract. Why pay £17m or £15m for that matter? I would prefer Alex and Mertesacker. Though Mertesacker is a bit slow, he's only 26. Seems we've landed Mertesacker... http://www.guardian.co.u...mertesacker-andre-santos"..one is only poor only if they choose to be.."-Dolly Partron

@Taz, Whatever AW brings will be welcome....The million dollar question is,why did he leave it to the last minute?......any business or sporting sense?....but again, all this remains speculation.I ca't trust that Wenger idiot until i see the player in the pitch. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Mertesacker is 6 ft 6 and is a no-nonsense defender, just what we nee to partner TV5. Djourou should never be seen in an Arsenal shirt....ok maybe Carling Cup.

No business sense at all. All teams know arsenal are desperate. Any player they are interested in will have an inflated price tag. Sporting? Don't know but it would have been better if it was earlier. The player would have gelled better with his teammates by now. @ Bkismat, Sporting sense? its only been three games, 35 more to play for...i'd rather we have someone now than in January. Van Der Vaart was signed on the cheap and on the last day but still made immediate impact at Spurs. We have Swansea, Dortmund & Blackurn as our next three matches, the signings we get we'll have more than enough time to blend with the other players. Business sense? Cahill is so over-priced but Mertesacker's price has not gone up. If we are to believe the prices being quoted for Malouda and Alex then it would definitely be a good deal considering that both of them are heading towards the final year of their contracts. As long as we keep away from English players, we will be ok for now. Anyway, I really don't care how much we pay for these players because hata tukisave the club will not use those funds to invest in other players. @ Guka....Mertesacker is almost a done deal http://www.skysports.com...,,11670_7138743,00.html?

Mertesacker's imposing figure will do good for Arsenal but even as a Man Utd fan, I still think Arsene should buy Cahill...at 26, he still has many years to give as a defender - inflated price or not. We bought Jones for slightly more than that and the dividends are more than any Man Utd fan could have ever asked for. At 19, Jones can become possibly one of the best centre backs for many many years to come BEER IS LIVING PROOF THAT GOD LOVES US AND WANTS US TO BE HAPPY!

Not a bad buy either IMO. @Smano, Clint would be a good buy but i think all this is rumours....Here is a guy who likes shooting and that would be against Wenger's beliefs.....unless he accepts to play barefooted. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
