@ Marex....We've only played two premier league games and the transfer window is still open...we still have players coming back from injuries and suspesion. The transfer window is still open so we'll get the players we need.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool were far from impressive over the weekend but kama kawaida its Arsenal who everyone wants a piece of...Chelsea were booed off the pitch at half time. If (big IF)only Arsenal sign Hazard, a midfielder and atleast one Centre back ..... I never thought i'd say this but for once we have a keeper we can rely on and Vermaelen looks good as well. Frimpong wasn't that bad, with time he'll get used to playing.

In other news, if you think it couldn't get any worse for Wenger then you were wrong...UEFA have just handed him a two match ban effective Wednesday.

Samir Nasri has been omitted from Arsenal's squad which flies to Udinese this afternoon and instead will travel north for a medical at Man City.

@ McReggae....Wenger/arsenal might have blundered with Nasri's contract but they are not about to let England's future captain just walk away, Jack Wilshere signed along term contract at the club last year November. RVP also signed a new long term contract last week. Ramsey, Szszeny, Gibbs and Walcott have now all signed long term contracts as well....no one wants to leave, we should be able to develop a team around these players.

Even as Arsenal lose Cesc and Nasri i have to applaud the club for getting rid of all the deadwood players...Bendtner, Almunia, Eboue, Squillaci, Vela etc have either left or are on their way out. Wenger now has 60m plus cheque to spend on new players before August 31st. We'll definitely sign a Defender, a top Midfielder and a Striker. We can afford a lose against Man Utd on Sunday after all no league has ever been won after 3 games....8 points adrift with 35 games to go, ARSENAL ROHO JUU.

I have to admit am impressed by your optimism @Taz but it's true - in a few days Wenger might just be vindicated. However, you need to win tomorrow to attract CL players otherwise that'll be a massive spanner in the works. Good luck with that!

If you thought Man City were the kings of the transfer market then think again....Russian Club Anzhi Machakala are about to (or have already) sign Eto'o. The Cameroonian is expected to receive a wage of 350k pounds per week (Sh. 50,000,000 per week). For someone who is 30 yrs old this is the best deal a player could get.

@Taz - There is a difference margin of a cool 10 million usd between him and Ronaldo!!!
1. Samuel Etoo - 29.6 million USD per year
2. Christian Ronaldo - 19 million usd per year
3. Messi - 16 million USD per year

5 things you could buy with Samuel Eto’o's new salary

Ryan Bailey, August 23, 2011

Samuel Eto’o and greed go together like peas and carrots, so the news that he will be earning $29m a year when he joins fellow mercenaries Roberto Carlos and Yuri Zhirkov at Russian club FC Anzhi Makhachkala is unsurprising.

Here’s five ways the best paid player in the world could spend his rather generous remuneration package…

1. He could buy his own personal Chinook helicopter – with a vast chunk of change to spare. He’s going to need some sort of air transportation, as most of his new teammates live in Moscow “for security reasons” and fly just under 1,000 miles into Makhachkala for home games. Sounds like a nice place.

2. Eto’o could afford approximately 128,888 Blackburn Rovers season tickets (currently the cheapest season pass in the Premier League). That’s enough to sell out Ewood Park four times over. Having visited Blackburn on several occasions, however, I’d say he’s probably better off in the conflict-scarred surrounds of Makhachkala.

3. The former Inter and Barca star could afford to have 209 MLS players in his personal employ (based on last season’s average salary of $138,169). Perhaps they could clean the next vast empty prefab mansion he’s destined to buy, or they could offer post-training footrubs.

4. The striker could buy 690 ridiculous designer watches for teammates, much like he did in a hugely grotesque gesture during the World Cup.

5. He could personally sponsor Arsenal’s shirts for three-and-a-half years, based on the £5m a season Emirates currently shell out. Eto’o's vacant grin plastered on the chest of every Gooner in North London? That’s something I’d like to see.

This is the best deal any footballer has ever got. Full stop!

Might be the best deal any athlete ever got. Just might!

Yeah this is a great deal, but when you consider endorments and sponsorships then some basketballers, golfers will still be ahead in yearly incomes!!!

@ McReggae....True there might be other players getting more then Eto'o but then again he is 30 yrs Old and has just signed a three year contract. Don't also forget he has endorsements from other sponsors, the 350K is just the weekly wage.

Not to downplay E'too's latest conquest but I'm not the substantial sponsor and endorsements he would get playing for that club in Russia, his wages will be backborn of his annual pay, his wages will about USD 28M (impressive I must)but last year alone more than 15 athletes made more than this amount!!!

I think Phil Jones is likely to be England's future captain ahead of Wilshere. IMHO, he looks like John Terry, both in appearance (facial also) and style.

ION, Arsenal wanted to appease its fans by looking for a season-long loan for Brazilian KAKA. However, Madrid are like, either make it permanent or forget. They are looking for atleast 17.5 million pounds for the 29yr old who earns 153,000 pounds. Mtaweza kweli?

Nowadays Kaka is too injury prone plus hiyo pesa ni mob....maybe if he agrees to take a pay cut.

On the England Captain issue, already so many English players and Capello have identified Wilshere as England Future Captain. Phil Jones is yet to perform/feature for the senior team and we haven't really been able to see him in action. Mambo ya Captaincy in England is usually very hot, its only given to someone who everyone thinks has been exceptional si mambo na body physique. Anyway they are both young, alot can change between now and then.

£60m to spend and Wenger's priority is still a loan signing; a temporary deal for 30-year-old Marseilles midfielder: Marseilles' Argentinian international Lucho Gonzalez and Sochaux's Marvin Martin.

And that's in addition to the money that had been availed to him before he/Arsenal went on a selling spree! He probably has £100m at his disposal!

Buying big might finally prove his policy has been wrong all along and he doesn't want that. Ego over logic. He wants to win a major trophy with babies to prove everyone else wrong. Good luck to him!

@ Maichblack...Just the other day you were praising SAF for having faith in youngsters but now they can't win trophies. I really wonder what you'll say if Man Utd wins the League with all those "babies". I believe Arsenal and Wenger are more than willing to spend the money but hakuna vile they'll pay a player who has just signed more than 100K per week. Alex Chamberlain was worth kitu kama 12-14M (which is a lot) but his wages ni kidogo sana.

At least they've started negotiations with Bolton to sign Gary Cahill but kama kawaida Arsenal always start with very low bids...Marvin Martin and Yann M'villa might also be the next targets. @ Njung'e, you might get what you wished for, its being reported that Arsenal have an interest in Papis Demba Cisse to replace Bendtner.

One thing i'm so sure of is that we'll have more than three new signings before 31 August. I'm not really concerned about this weekend's clash with Man Utd...we are short on players so i think we'll be lucky if we get a draw. Fortunately for us its too early in the season for the results to have an impact on title race.

@TAZ - At Man United, the youth get a chance because they are talented. At Arsenal, they get a chance because, well, they are young, they are cheap, there is no one else available and they have no where to go! Big difference.

@Jus Blazin - Most Arsenal players have sponsorship deals with pampers. True story. Some punch lines include "I train the whole day and don't need to change my diapers."; "The game just went to extra time. Good thing I'm wearing my pampers diapers"; "They don't pay me that well. Thank goodness pampers are so affordable!" etc.
