Following the persistent blindness and lack of focus that has befallen Arsen Wenger and the entire Arsnal's board, I hereby categorically and without fear or favor do tender my resignation, ummm, I do actually suspend my support for this team for the entire period of the 2011/2012 season.

And in that order I also do hereby temporally shift my support to Liverpool FC, atleast for the entire season.

I can never walk alone again.

Not to worry, yesterday was a freak show. The club is not in a deep crisis as is being reported.

I would however be worried if I was a Liverpool fan. Yesterday Liverpool was almost full strength bar Steve Gerald, and for 70 minutes they did not look like beating an Arsenal team without Song, Gervinho, Koscielny and Gibbs. A team containing Frimpong, Miquel and Jenkinson.

Liverpool has spent more than £100 m this year and it did not show 11 vs 11. The only got the upper hand after Frimpong's dismissal. The first goal was lucky at best and the 2nd goal was against a 10 players who had already given up.

Arsenal may not win the league Shame on you , but I doubt Liverpool will pip them. Sad

@impunity ...mimi am an arsenal fan and will always be one...
When arsenal changed stadium from highbury to the current arshbuton grove home...it was a major financial risk...but wenger has managed to handle the financial pressure and has been able to guide arsenal to champions league all these years yet he has been running the club on a budget that less than some mid table clubs.
Yes leaving it to the 11th hour for the likes of fabregas to leave the club was a bit a miss but i understand his intention was to have fabregas remain at the emirates though his desire to play for Barcelona forced him to sell...
Another thing is that wenger needs to buy quality players, funny enough wenger has not started that this 6 years arsenal have not won a trophy from his days in As Monaco he has always been buying young players! so actually the money bags are the ones who have changed and not Wenger.

Finally i don't think it is all gloom at the emirates as the UEFA financial rules will be in force in the next few years

from the UEFA website this is what i read

"Under the financial fair play concept and the regulations, clubs will be encouraged to operate on the basis of their own revenues and not spend more than their income. Clubs should also settle their liabilities with players, authorities and other clubs in a punctual manner. In addition, they will have to provide information about future financial planning.

The result should be a more disciplined approach by clubs towards their finances. Long-term investment favouring youth development and improvement of club installations should take precedence over short-term speculative spending."

I think Arsenal Football Club is already practicing this!!

Wenger is a stubborn guy when it comes to transfers but i believe the first person who should be blamed is the Arsenal chairman. At the end of the day he's the one who determines who goes and who comes in....look at all the top clubs during transfer windows, it is the chairman and CEO who are in charge of new signings. They are the owners of the club, Wenger is just the manager who they can choose to replace. What we need is to have Alister Usmanov in that board, he seems to be the only person who understand whats wrong at the club.

@ Impunity....No need to feel depressed, i think one of the reasons why we haven't signed any big name is because of our involvement in the CL qualifiers. If we progress on Wednesday then i'm almost sure we'll have some arrivals before the transfer window closes. Its being reported that we have already agreed a deal in principle with Edin Hazard (awaiting CL match) and there are also some shocking rumours on a deal to bring Kaka to the Emirates....at this point nothing is certain.

Land. Sea. Arsenal FC. Highs. Lows. Arsenal FC.

@Taz you must be joking about the Chairman bit otherwise if serious you must be bathing in whatever Wenger is inhaling.

Wenger should be shot.

It's said that Man-useless fans are like Undergrads. It's the team you join when you begin watching football.

It's said that Arsenal fans are like Masters students. It's the team you join when you start employing a little effort in your thought processes.

And finally it's said that Chelsea fans are like PhD holders. It's the team for the brilliant and learned in the skill, art and science of FOOTBALL.

@ Elder.....Look at Spurs, their Chairman has refused to sell Modric depsite of what Redknapp thinks. He's always busy trying to bring in new players, last week he was so confident he'll land Mata.

At Liverpool its Comolli who has been key in bringing in players same thing at Chelsea & Man City....Mancini doesn't even know who will be signed by the club.

At Barca Guardiola has been so quiet on new signings, its the President who has brought Cesc and Sanchez on board. Massimo Morati is the one calling the shots at Inter, not the coach.

Usmanov and several other directors have called for the immediate replacement of the entire board. Its the same board that replaced David Dean (Wenger's right hand man) who was so influential in bringing in top players. Wenger is always arrogant and stubborn when it comes to signing players but i don't think he is entirely to blame. He has performed well with the players at his disposal but lack of depth in the team has always been the major problem.

He is on record saying he can't be a board member just to be a board member. He needs power and control. With Stan Kroenke as the majority share holder do you see Usmanov getting the requisite power and influence any time soon? Kroenke would have to approach Usmanov for help. Good luck with that!

if the article is to be believed, then I foresee a big problem facing kraoke and his company Arsenal.Relegation is coming if status quo remains.
They will loose us (fans) to Manchester city where romours have it that Wenger and Mansoor are buddies and have been spotted severaly in hotels with a Man city delegation in West london.

Except that the Aresenal Chairman is Peter Hill-Wood. He does not run the club and when it comes to foot in the mouth cases you best believe that he was separated at birth from his twin brother Alfred Mutua. In short the guy makes no calls at the club when it comes to players leaving or being bought.

On the link over Wenger being at loggerhead with the board, read it yesterday and it sounds like some PR move for Wenger to win back the fans after screwing up this transfer window.
