@the Deal; this one is about indecise in general, not the NSE-20.

I am certain about my position: the NSE-20 is not capitalisation weighted. It is a simple price index calculated as a geometric mean of the price ratios at consecutive intervals... just try the formula I gave above and you will see there is no weighting at all.

Therefore, SCOM moving by, say, 5% has the same effect as RVP^ moving by 5%, even though the former's mkt cap is over 150 times that of the latter. {*Need confirmation that RVP is still in the NSE-20}
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Bro I dont know where YBC went...LOL...people are saying he is making a killing in Gold..so he must be in a Gold forum...the Nairobi20 Stock Index is an arithmetic average just like the Dow or the Nikkei...

Its calculated as follows:-

Sum of all stock prices/n=base

Where n=no of companies in the index, n also becomes the divisor

After calculting the base, the daily index figure is calculated as

Sum of all stock prices in the index for the day/divisor=index closing figure for the day

Adjustments to the divisor are only made when there is a stock split, bonus or even dividends

It costs nothing to be nice. Idiot is way too strong - especially for someone who has willingly shared information / analyses on the market. Tupendane.
