The Rugby World Cup Sevens-bound Kenya will on Saturday morning be presented with the national flag by President Kibaki at State House gardens.


The world beating Kenya team,who have already claimed the scalps of South Africa and New Zealand this season,will be looking to fly the flag high in Dubai from March 5 to 7 when the tournament is held.

Twenty-four teams pooled in four groups are taking part in this quadrennial sevens rugby show-piece event. Kenya are in a Group “E”,together with 1993 champions England,Tunisia and Hong Kong.

The six pool winners and best two runners-up will progress to the Cup quarter-finals.

Kenya players got a juicy inducement to progress to the Cup knockout stage when mobile phone service provider Safaricom announced hefty rewards yesterday.

Each member of the squad will receive Sh0.5 million should they get to the final of the Cup competition and Sh250,000 reward per player for reaching the semis.
