The saddest thing is that the first target of rationing will be our Industrial Area, one of the few if not the only place where we have value addition to raw material and Vision 2030 is here telling us how we should stop exporting raw harvest/material. Very sad.

C'mon man. These plants run overnight. The rationing is only 3hrs. Just reorganize the shifts or get a generator.

Hey pple. The following is a quotation from BD on article about MSC. "In the FY ended June, Dr Kidero said, the sugar mill had earned an excess of 1B, contributed EQUALLY from the sale of ELECTRICITY & CARBON CREDITS. Even though the financial results are yet to be published, the anticipated revenue could be significantly lifted by the earnings FROM THE TWO STREAMS above the 359M earned from Kenya Power last year" Tafakari (KGN)

@cde. It might not hurt kengen's earnings, or even kenya power. Thats true. But it sucks!! No one would rather live in darkness.

IMHO, denying electricity for 3 hours to a 24 hr running industrial plant is something. The KAM members were out yesterday and they clearly indicated it will affect their productivity. They may even be forced to cut on employment levels

@Aguy, you are joking aren't you? If you reduce your sales, what do you expect? The question should be by what magnitude will earnings be hurt?

I think this time tis more of a demand issue than a supply one. My 2cts.

So the last time we experienced power rationing was back in 2000... that means 10yrs + down the line we learnt little or nothing & therefore we're doing it all over again!!! Karibu Kenya hakuna matata...

Are you serious???
These plants run overnight because there's demand for what they're producing and I'm sure they all have generators.
I think it's a shame that in this day and age and advancement in technology you cannot rely on KPLC to a point where if you are doing a wedding or an event a back-up generator must be provided for in the budget.
But this guys have guts! How do you put an ad in the papers today knowing what the headline would be saying "Tunawahudumia"???

BBI will solve it
