@Khan,
They are likey to get cane from Nzoia upto mid Sept,which would make the first half not as byad as i had predicted but still,i would have to be made of solid wood to follow yousmile

Njung'e, does Nzoia receive more cane from farmers than Mumias? And are they unable to utilise all of it, causing them to be willing to sell to a competitor?

=> probably Nzoia could be closing for maintenance!

I think this company needs a fresh and a proactive CEO whose reaction time is above average.

Few months to the end of The comesa deadline and the company is inefficient and ineffective, even Kenya power is blaming it on the current power short fall...which literary means MUMIAS SUGAR IS INCAPABLE OF MEETING DEMAND.

The reason given are always the same year in year out...the company is producing below capacity because of rain and inaccessible roads...NKT.

Just last month I went to the supermarket and bought Mumias sugar @210/- per 2kg,yesterday I went to buy the same sugar it was 250/- per 2Kg. We always say safaricom is conning us but Mumias sugar is definitely Mugging Us.

The inconsistent pricing show a company that has no plan and only survive because of its loyal base.

I don't quote Buffet, but am told the guy loves companies that are able to increase prices and pass them over to consumers effortlessly

@gathiga yeah that true for a company that claim to be a monopoly, but mumias will face severe competition come early next year ,its erratic pricing will make its loyal customers waiver due to resentment caused by its inefficient supply chain that is prone to speculators.

Furthermore its inability to embrace technologies that limit uncertainties in the supply of its raw material as well as streamlining its supply chain might actually hurt it once private suppliers enter its market next yr.

It is not Mumias making the money. It is the distributors who rumour has it are linked with insiders.

And even if the price is high, they dont have the product. What is the use of a high price if you have got nothing or little to sell?

How can Mumias, a traded company holding shareholders expectations not have the one and only thing they sell available in the market???
What would happen if Safaricom switched off for one week to service their whatevers??? Do they know about this comesa thingy coming up from 2012?

BBI will solve it
