The story we are getting is not objective since those reporting are interested parties in the dispute. And our Kenyan media houses [especially the big 3 - NMG, SGL, and RMS] have serious objectivity issues when it comes to stories touching on them.

They are trying to create the impression that the license was give to the "oppressive" Chinese government, yet it was given to a PRIVATE company owned by Chinese nationals.

Secondly, there is nothing in the tender requirements that says when the applicant should get relevant documents. So the claim that the Certificate of Tax Compliance is dubious because it was acquired one week before the tender closing/opening date is frivolous at the least.

Third, the appeal process has not been exhausted. The Kenyan media can now go to the high court and seek redress IFF they have valid grounds. After all; there is a new Sheriff in town.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

It might be a question of how Chinese the 'Chinese owners' are.

May be the two are Hu Man Kariuki and Mi Ji Otieno

I agree here to the old adage that it would be unwise to have monkeys adjudicate on matters over forest.

Media houses have done very little to develop content (their core business) yet they also want to distribute. When it was left to them, they had transmitters all over (ngong Limuru, Mavoko) confusing consumers with low quality signals.

As I said, and I stand to be corrected, chinese may not be the best for the job but neither are NMG's of this world angels.

Kenya in the 80s supressed press freedom. Were all kenyan owned companies against freedom?

I guess we need to differentiate between content and actual delivery...they are only going to distribute the content, not be a source of the content, i think this is just but useless hullabaloo perpetuated by the media because it is about the media...what would you be more concerned about, your TV signal being hacked or your mobile phone conversations being hacked...

So while we are trying to cry over this new tender, the chinese have been quietly controlling most if not all the voice traffic and data on the cell phone market....how come nobody is concerned about that?
