@Cde, in the short term, in my views this is negative for KGN. It means their supply pipeline is not keeping up with the (suppressed) demand.

mwanahisa, Kengen can only supply as much to the national grid. It has many projects in the pipeline as has been detailed before in Wazua.
As you say, it is no longer a monopoly and there are many suppliers ready to fill the gap, if any.
But with Kenya economy still growing, as Cde Monomotapa says, it will currently sell everything that it produces. How is that negative?

The saddest thing is that the first target of rationing will be our Industrial Area, one of the few if not the only place where we have value addition to raw material and Vision 2030 is here telling us how we should stop exporting raw harvest/material. Very sad.

BBI will solve it

Probably the worst news since the midnight swearing ceremony. It shows how myopic our planning is. KPLC has a target of connecting 100k new customers annually through rural electrification program etc.

Where did they think the new loads added to the grid will draw power form? Does it make sense to connect some peasants in Ndunduri when we disconnect Bamburi who are producing cement for export?

Vision 2030 is just wishful thinking like "tap-water-for-all-by-the-year-2000"
