This is terrible news to wake up to. What happened to the new power plants KGEN is supposed to have commissioned. And, if the situation is that dire, why not bring back the Emergency Power suppliers the likes of AGGREKO?

Whose Emergency power plant is it in Muhoroni? @Cde, in the short term, in my views this is negative for KGN. It means their supply pipeline is not keeping up with the (suppressed) demand.

Maybe one day u'll get it (as an investor not a consumer) how it makes business sense to be investing billions to sell into a ready (starved) market. And that Muhoroni (60MW) plant belongs to Kengen.

Maybe one day I'll get it as you say. Note that I have stated that I expect that this will have negative impact in the short run. In the long term, I am hopeful that KenGen will be able to indeed bring in more supply. However, you should also realize KenGen no longer has the monopoly it used to have and other players are stepping up to take advantage of the gaps in supply.

At least one good piece of news is KGN's ownership of the Muhoroni Emergency Power Plant.

Hasnt power rationing been happening? All these balckouts have indeed been power rationong; only KPLC hadnt formally termed them so. Its just now been made official.

This is a very debilitating blow to out Vision 2030; since of all things it requires to be powered to hit the 10% anticipated annual growth rate. I'd rather have expensive power and make the choice to consume it, than have no power at all.
The laudable is more often than not rendered laughable by overclaim

@ Horton - thats because despite the power rationing the bills will still remain the same or even increase. So the share price has to go up.

According to the ad in the papers, part of the reason KP has to ration is they're not getting the 26MW from Mumias. Why's this? @ Guka?

If I was president of Kenya; I would jail the 2 Njoroges, plus Kiraitu, plus Nyoike plus Mwirichia for acting in a treasonable manner in the form of national economic sabotage.

Bunch of useless fellows!!

True, but the five useless fellows are trying their level best to stop the growth. Jail the lot; I say!
