KTN was yesterday ordered to pay Uhuru Kenyatta Sh.7 million for defamation in a case where it had linked him to PEV without credible evidence.

This is probably the first sum that the media house will have to pay since after it took an approach of peddling gutter press as in the case of the Sh.840 million story it will have to pay much more in the near future.

This outcome is only fair since media houses will stop pushing lies for the sake of making headlines spectacular and start to regulate themselves and any partisan journalists or editors under their employment.

It would help if you gave a link!

I agree that media houses need to be held to account.
The Ksh 840M was a classic case of media recklessness.

UK should appeal the Sh.7 million decision and ask for Sh.70 million or even Sh.700 million for this case and Sh.7 billion for the Sh.840 million case. That way, media houses will learn their lesson and keep away from taking money from the highest bidder to peddle propaganda and lies.

I remember those days when once the total man was paid 30 million for defamation. That is before you factor in the inflation isuues. This at least made the media do sober reporting.

I retract the statement I had made earlier. I'm now of the mind that KTN should pay Sh.7 billion for both cases.
