Did you know that if not for Gen Tonje, even the few women in the army wouldnt be where they are. Its Tonje who expanded the role of women and even allowed them to marry and have families! Can you believe that just the other day, they could... not. Now to understand why women cant rise to certain levels, you must understand that the Women's Service Corps was never established as a combat division, but as a support division, just like the Medical Battalion. Effectively therefore, you cannot become a general if your unit is a support battallion, as opposed to a combat one, because the role of a general is to lead soldiers to war! For this reason, professionals in the army like lawyers, doctors etc do not rise above Brigadier, because their role is to 'support' a war, not fight the war itself. Here, there is nothing like gender, my friend! Its all about balls and more balls! Is it clearer now?

Women in the army dont even get to Lt Col, which is the sixth highest rank in the army! The highest ranking woman I have heard of in the army is a Major, which is the 7th highest rank!

@McReggae,that is what i am putting across,as much as we want to balance gender appointments as per the constitution ,there will be instances where it will not be practical.

How could you refuse a directive from your Commander in Chief. Retiring in the army is very UNLIKE the civilian. You are a solder till you die.. So if your Commanding Officer tells you to go be his tout.... Unakimbia mbio.
