Lt Gen Julius Karangi has been appointed the new Chief of Defence Forces replacing Gen Jeremiah Kianga who retires in August 31, 2011.

General Kianga, who has served the defence for 40 years has now been appointed chairman of the Kenya Railways Corporation.

Maj Gen S. J Mwathathe has been promoted to Lt Gen and becomes Vice Chief of Defence Forces.

Brig P. W. Kameru has been promoted to Maj Gen and appointed Director of Military Intelligence Kenya Navy.

Brig. N. Mukala has been promoted to Maj Gen and appointed Commander Kenya Navy.

Col J. M. Waweru has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Deputy Commander Kenya Army.

Lt. Gen J. Kasaon is now Commander Kenya Army, while Lt Gen N. Mwaniki has been appointed Commandant National Defence College

Kenya Air Force.

Maj. Gen J. Otieno is now the newly appointed Commander of Kenya Air Force, whereas Maj. Gen. H.M. Tangai has been appointed Senior Directing Staff- Air, National Defence College.

Maj Gen J. N. Waweru has been appointed Commandant, Defence Staff.

Whats with this bullshit that after this big guys retire they are appointed to other positions of irrelevancy?
Kwani hakuna wakenya wengine who can do better..
My dictionary must be misleading me... Retirement inamaanisha nini...

Ama his military skills will deter Reli kung'olewa next year after election???

Hatuonekani hapa!!! My community is being annihilated!!! Kenya Railways...20 years ago I used to take a train from Sultan hamud to Mombasa and spent a cool 12 hours to get down there. Today, 20 years later you still take 12 hours to get there. Kianga ameambiwa...Wewe nenda lala huko, ungojee siku yako ya kifo...LOL!!!

I have never understood this bullshittery of having so many General Staff yet our army is so small. Compared to other nations these generals should be colonels.

BTW when I was growing up in Shaggs, Karangi would make a low fly past over the village (we share a village).
