@Muheani,

Am told that the Works Ministry has hydraform block making machines [at every Provincial HQ or sth.] available for lending to all. You only meet the cost for the fuel & the operator. Given that there are no other charges, the demand could be high but then again may be not as this technology has not really caught on. Your may want to explore this option.

Would there be any regulations about using this kind of bricks like to construct a 3 storey house?

They make very nice houses and are said to be economical too.

@ Muheani, check with Approtec, Kariobangi North. Their machines are abit cheaper than Makiga if i remember correctly. They also sell hand and foot pumps for irrigation, balers, oil presses etc.

Hi guys,

Am currently in Kampala and i stumbled on these guys called brick world, see their website below.

http://brickworlduganda.com/services.html

http://www.facebook.com/brickworlduganda?ref=ts

Some nice stuff they have, saw some houses built with the soil bricks, out of this world.

I wonder why this technology is yet to catch up in kenya!

Asked them for some costings of doing a 3 bedroomed house and they said they will revert. Will fill you in when i get the info.

Cheers

Muheani,

I recently bought the machine from Makiga. The interlocking soil blocks are better than most of machine cut stones. The soil used is subsoil and thus someone needs to excavate the soil. However, cotton soil cannot be used.

You required a 10,000 pcs. Let us discuss business. In which location do you intend to use the blocks?

@ Fuchu, what is the indicative going price for the press. Is it available as Completely Kocked down kit or already assembled just in case one needs to transport it say 500km from source?.
