In 1995,there was a by-election in Kipipiri after the death of the then area MP Laban Muchemi.Kanu wanted to unseat the opposition led by Mwangi Githiomi of DP.....In his bid,Moi used the then KPLC boss to try entice voters.A week before the by-election,the constituency was flooded with HT wires and electricty poles to the smallest village centre......When the results were announced,DP had trounced the KANU candidate by a landslide twice over.By the following morning, there was not a strand of wire nor a piece of electricty pole.......Kipipirians have never forgotten and if Gichuru gets extradited to Jersey,Kipipiri will be one big party.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

To buy and keep cheap loyalty Moi used to have huge entourages of joyriders when touring abroad. In 1980 he included Joseph Kamaru for a tour of Japan and upon his return, Kamaru composed and recorded a song "Safari ya Japan", of course in praise of Moi.

...in case you dont remember between 1982 and 2000 there were more than 100 songs which had been composed in praise of 'baba moi" and were given the name "patriotic songs"!!...after every 10 minutes, just before news a patriotic song would be played in KBC radio station...jeez, even God Almighty never received this kind of Adoration and Praise during this period...

A little brave girl of about 5 years schooling in a Primo in Naivasha recited a poem that thrilled Moi's entourage and even those of us who watched it on the the VoK....The poem was titled "Sukuma wiki kipenzi".....Kitenda wili....who of my generation can remember this gal who went on to become and still remains a big hit?

Problems can get out of proportion, and not only in the wee small hours. Don't let the problems eclipse the Master. Let the Master eclipse the problems.
