Would appreciate any leads as to the author of the book, title in full and whether it's still in print.

The title is in kikuyu "Matigari ma __________" (the remains of _________")... can't remember the rest.

The cover was black and a shade of yellow - African print. The title is in bold white(?)

...there is a "scene" where some guys have just been thrown in prison for vagrancy.
