Wazuans...Was wondering whether the concept of time shares might work in Kenya. It worked pretty well in the US until I guess the financial crisis hit them hard.
My understanding of it is where several people co-own a property and they get allocated time at the property for different months of the year. The rest of the time the property is rented out to third party customers and the net income is split between the owners.
My logic is the increasing middle class in Kenya has given people more disposable income and think there is a discernible change in Kenyans spending parterns as witnessed by increased domestic tourism. Think most Kenyans would like to own a holiday home if they could afford it but sadly most of us still cant. Thus believe time shares would allow people to draw the benefits of a holiday home without the associated initial capital outlay or running costs.
Welcom any thoughts or critic of the idea.

Royal Reserve has been run by Leading Resorts of the World using the time share concept for as long as I can remember. They used to be at Sclatters House and tried selling it to me (using the pressure marketing method) and even gave me a 2 night holiday at the coast.
