Projections by the African Development Bank (AfDB) indicate that the region led by the Kenyan economy will register an average economic growth rate of 5.4 within the next year compared to an Africa average of four per cent this barring the political risks that plague the Kenyan economy. This build around the diversity in markets within our region.

The article also gave a big disclaimer. You seemed to have ignored it.

......Barring the political risks that plague the Kenyan economy,Dr Kasikende said that diversity in foreign exchange income streams that aren’t tied to commodity exports place the country as a fast growth case even in the current economic slowdown.

Political risks:

1. Upcoming katiba review and subsequent referendum. Will it be acrimonious? This is the single biggest risk to Kenya. A competitive referendum will spell doom for any growth.

2. The Hauge? If Koffi forwards that evnvelope there is no telling what those named will do to defend themselves. If they are tried here it will be acrimonious.

3. Coalition wrangling: This will continue till 2012.

This Dr Makende is deluding himself. The way Uhuru and co are stealing from Treasury like there is no tgommorrow can just mean one thing, serius trouble ahead and the rats are eating as much as they can before bolting.

I think U.S economic recovery will determine how and when the rest of the world recovers and methinks Obama administration bungled the banking stress test and the false hope of recovery will dissipate within the next few weeks. This recession will be deep and the recovery will not be V shaped like most were hoping, think L shape, and that includes Kenya's economy.

Just prior to Speaker Marende's ruling on the HBC with the Principals dug in their trenches, were you spoiling for civil war? There lies your answer.
