@ 2012. you have along way to go. maybe it because we all cannot be health experts can we.anyway the raw sugar that we take is devoid of all vitamins.do you know what that means ???it means upon intake the vitamins that are supposed to break it down come from the body and thus get depleted as they have to be used to process the raw sugar.
If sugar consumption is continued, an over-acid condition results, and more minerals are needed from deep in the body to correct the imbalance. If the body is lacking the nutrients used to metabolize sugar, it will not be able to properly handle and rid itself of the poisonous residues.
These wastes accumulate through the brain and nervous system, which speeds up cellular death. The bloodstream becomes over-loaded with waste products and symptoms of carbonic poisoning result.

in conclusion by adding these vitamins the body is able to store its own vitamins and uses the vitamins in the sugar to process the sugar.

ITS A WIN SITUATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are not serious!

Did you attend any biology classes? Vitamins to break down sugar? Body storing vitamins?

These two glaring errors makes everything else in your argument/explanation complete nonsense.

This document explains the logic very clearly in the "Forward":

"In many countries, vitamin A deficiency is a widespread problem that is not necessarily limited to specific groups of people or isolated communities. Among the interventions available, food fortification is an accepted method of delivering micronutrients to the population at large and is widely practiced in developed countries. In these countries, foods such as milk powder, butter and margarine, complementary infant foods, and breakfast cereals are routinely fortified with micronutrients, including vitamin A. The above foods, however, are not regularly consumed by the vast majority of the population in developing countries, especially among those at greatest risk of vitamin A deficiency. One food that is consumed by nearly the entire population in developing countries is sugar, which can be fortified with vitamin A. Sugar fortification is practical because target populations do not need to alter or adapt a new or costly distribution system. Indeed, sugar fortification only requires the existence of a well-established sugar production and marketing system. This allows for the uniform addition of vitamin A as well as the monitoring of its content. Fortification of sugar with vitamin A is one of the safest, most efficacious, and most cost-effective interventions to prevent and control vitamin A deficiency."

Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Market Penetration Strategy???

Maybe a subsidy from the venture partner?

I certainly do not think its cheaper to produce...

1) Market Penetration Strategy???
Folks buy this vs other folks sugar. Builds a name/brand.

Maybe a subsidy from the venture partner?
Probably a subsidy from UN?

@Genghis Khan: Market penetration? Not really! People who do not take sugar will not starting taking it because it now has Vitamin A. Which other market would they be targeting?

Subsidy? Probably, seeing as the UN is involved. Possibly, the UN has provided the additives and footed the increased cost of fortification with Vitamin A. The UN may have also handed over an element of the funds budgeted for the dissemination of Vitamin A to Mumias thus reducing the shelf-price! Possibly! Probably!

To get more people to embrace the product faster and recoup non variable costs of introducing the prodcut to market. Remember the new BlueBand? Same reason KK is giving discount. Not to CREATE new consumers but to PENETRATE existing market

Yes Sir thats what I was thinking.

Now I'm thinking I want to buy the sugar, but what of the stock? Am one of those guys with large MSC, I've paid the price (unrealised losses)... have been considering doubling down...

@Genghis Khan: Noted, and I would expect Mumias to capitalise on this venture to restructure the market and effectively drive out the small competition there still is!
