smile Dear Wazuans,

I am gland I joined this group of widely read and learned people. I have learnt so much from your threads. Keep up the good work.

I work for a company in the finance sector that is giving employees ESOP scheme as an incentive for a productive and robust work force. The share has been trading between KSh 24 and Ksh 27 for the last one month or so. The issue price for the ESOP is Ksh.19. Should I or should I not take it?

Equity?

First check how long you're supposed to be tied in for and whether you'll be there then. Personally I prefer ESOPs where the Co. gives you the shares but you can only sell at current mkt rates in 5yrs etc.

BBI will solve it

Looks like you work for Equity/HFCK or Fam Bank. Whoever it is, should consider disciplinary action. Ati you are being offered a 25% discount and you come here asking if you should make for the shares?
If you like, lets make an agreement where I give you the cash and you put some more cash in the ESOP and I harvest when the options vest...

@prettyone,
1. Do you believe in the company you work for? If yes buy.
2. Is there a lock in period before you can sell? If yes, do you plan to work for that long? If yes, buy.
3. You are getting these shares at a discount, we are probably buying the same shares at 27/- and calling it a good buy. So, buy.
4. Opportunities like this come by rarely. Its a finance institution, take a loan (im sure staff get them at lower rates) and buy a huge chunk of this stock. Yes, a loan...debt is good sometimes,worst case scenario you can offload the damn things and payoff the loan...

Cheers
