Where can I get the best deal on house fittings?

Am also at that point of construction. Any idea of how much standard finishing/fittings for 4 bedroom maisonette would approximately cost?

For tiles,SAJ Ceramics is a preference to me more so in terms of repairs in future :-( should some break you will always get the same tile after several years.
Tiles and Carpet I am not quite sure how often patterns are changed/re-manufactured.But they are very good in other Bathrm accesories.

Looks like many of us are in the same phase of the construction process. How about getting together and buying the furnishing for the house from China? I plan to detour from my regular flight path to China sometimes in August or October specifically to review the market and furnish my house in readiness for warming it in December 2011. If interested lets discuss.

Hi Luttz ,
I do concur with you it might be cheaper ,I do have a 3 storey 6 Units , 2 bed room each but still contemplating on doing the interior finishing ,Please let me know if you would like to do the container thing as i have one more friend too who is in the process of building and might vouch for the idea .

ALL,

Even better guys, why not use this chance to pool resources to start an investment vehicle by shipping in container loads of building finishes products on order to start with (since i can already smell some ready market in the house) and later by opening an interior finishes product shop? now that stocks are running with the bears and the shilling following closely? Yes some diversification of some sorts! I know the dollar is pricy but guys are building none stop. Who wants the first doors, tiles, kitchen cabinets, bathroom accessories,etc? i am ready to take down the order. Real estate may be the way for now.

The in thing is sourcing them from UK stores while they are on sale. You can visit www.wickes.co.uk or www.ikeya.co.uk. They can even design it as you want it. I can process the order for you and then ship it to you at £2 per kg all inclusive,collection from Nairobi. I know a number of guys who have done this.
