I've been trying to analyse banks performances on a larger scope specifically the large ones & my conclusions are that Banks that are going to give & maintain good returns in the next 5 years are:
1. Ones that will expand on SME Banking.
2. Expand regionally.
3. Understand the CRB act & use it effectively (most banks that rushed to list defaulters are having it rough as most of the debtors listed are not repaying a case in point BBK)
4. Improve on debt recovery.
5. Expand mortage financing (i don't only mean real estate but all kinds of mortgage/asset financing)
6. And the most important one of all inculcating a culture of all the above within the organization (employees)

Kenya is moving towards embracing credit as part of an integral part of the economy and any institution that embraces & makes the citizenry part of this will have won.

I think Equity and KCB fit in this category!

57% of Kenya's banked population belong to Equity the rest share the remaining portion...its a monopoly the CCK must investigate...LOL.

But as you can see BBK has overtaken Equity in capitalisation to take the lead in the Financial sector. This is like F1 racing. Who knows, it could be KCB or Coop one year down. If you ask me, I don't think Equity model is as special as it used to be, they need something new...

BBI will solve it

Huge turnover today again...some big boy is exiting? I'm Bullish...a rally from here should see us to 32.

Such a big boy cannot just exit a counter if it is a very lucrative one. In 2 days he has sold more than KES250million worth of shares.

The day banks will lower trade loans to single digits e.g. 9%, I'll buy up NIC in bucket loads... And of course all other banks even NBK...

Aly Khan Satchu made the following report on Equity at EOB on Friday,

"Equity Bank was the most actively traded share again. Equity Bank closed unchanged at 24.50 and traded a 24.25-25.00 range and 3.18m shares worth 78.246m. Equity Bank has seen a great deal of activity of late. Equity Bank was trading at 25.00 +2.04% at the close signalling the DownDraft might be nearing completion."

I concur with him that the downdraft might be over. The big boy seller was missing on Thus to Fri and some big moneyed boys were on the buying side
