@User, I am not claiming to be better. My person view is that a person who is still listening to his ancestors (and even claims they tell him to wear an earring) is not fit to be a CJ.

Who knows what the ancestors will tell him about Kenya? I want a man or woman who fears God as CJ. Period.

I support the Catholic church stand.
Reason is sometimes in 2009,lawyer Cecil Miller was rejected when one Millie odhiambo told the house that Miller was milling his wife aka battler.
We should also apply the same standards and be told whether Mutunga is a Divorcee (sp) or not.....and whether the ear stud is right morally or not.Lets apply same scale...

i stand to be corrected !

I think Sage has writen a very nice poem. I am sharing it with all my friends around the office. I surely did not know that Isaiah preached when he was naked. I am agree that Willy Mutunga may not be a perfect human being but he has a superb legal mind and he is a reformer. The only issue I would have with him is if at all it comes out that he was a wife beater. There is no excuse for one adult beating another adult. So we need this small but very huge matter to be clarified. Did the good lawyer beat any of the wives he has divorced. For me, this is an elephant issue

Is someone claiming that ama it automatically flows from the fact that he is a divorcee?

The guy wears an earring, has been divorced twice, speaks to his ancestors and has been through 3 religions! Is that not too much on one person?

Got it online and I think I'll listen to the Catholic Church when they come out and talk about how soaring inflation, worker rights, apathy towards violence and and how we can tolerate the level of impunity in this country before "morality."

this speaks volume but not to say we are perfect!!
the fact that during the interviews, Abdulahi was getting personal with some candidates just becoz he disliked them speaks volume that the process may have been skewed!!!

i agree with Burning: how did the issues of the stud not come up? professionally, he is qualified no doubt.
morally, he has serious issues as a person and in all this hopping from religion to religion and marriages, he's trying to find some answers. i think its risky to have him as CJ .... could turn ou to be very good or very bad. but i would give him a chance. there are provisions to remove him if he goes rogue so lets just move forward

The only difference between mutunga and the holier than thou 'moralists' (is there a word like that?) is that his skeletons are out in the open unlike ALL of us who have skeletons hidden and tucked away in deep dark corners.
Tell me how many people here can be atheists, devilworshippers, frequent visitors of the village witch, but all hide in the church as pastors, elders, e.t.c? So this thing that he should believe in God to do his job does not fly. It is HIS choice.Has speaking to his ancestors affected his quality of work? I dont know (I am assuming not) but he was declared the best candidate for the job so all we can do is give him a chance.

Earlier today I watched Mutunga being grilled by the Parliamentary committe charged with the job - chaired by Abdikadir.

I must say after the interview the doubts that I had about his suitability were busted.

The guy is good to go.
