Could someone please enlighten me on how much the cost of kokoto a ton and timber costs down there.

Depends on where it will be delivered but you can work with 1,300.00 per ton if within 10km from mlolongo quarries. Timber depends on the size and type. good day.

Timber depends on the
(a)tree(Cypress, bluegam, pine, Grevillea)
(b)size eg 6x2 is more expensive that 4x2

The price of aggregate (kokoto) is given above. I bought a 16tonner @ 22k recently in Ruiru which works to something like KShs 1,375/Ton

This kind of information is hard to come by especially when you are not there physically especially the kokoto one.
Bluegum/bluegam is good with me and its for roofing purposes.
Anyways, how much does it cost??

there are two types of ballasts available...kayole and mlolongo types...

the best quality is the mlolongo type which on average approaches the ideally recommended size of 3/4 inch (19mm) and is more expensive...

the kayole is of poor quality and not very good for floor slabs...it is normally cheaper...

the businessmen crooks will normally deliver the kayole ballast at the price of mlolongo type...

the mlolongo ballast goes for 21k for areas around kasarani, mwiki, githurai 44 and 45, kahawa west, thome and garden estate.

not very sure about the timber as of this year...
...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

I agree with Kaigangio. Any seriously fundi/foreman will advise you to strictly use Mlolongo ballast
