...I know there are other posts on Dr Willy Mutunga. But I want us to specifically dissect this man. After all he presented himself for a job that calls for the public to know how he woke up. The Chief Justice must be up there morally, intellectually and everything else that is good. He is the epitome of excellence. So, so many questions will be asked about this man...including the colour of his underwears – that is,if he wears any!!!. Barrack Obama and Bill Cinton were asked whether they wear briefs or boxers. Obama declined to answer but Clinton said he preferred boxers. So for the journalists to ask these questions, they must have exhausted all other issues. Now, this man has been divorced twice...Is this a role model for our children? I asked my 12 year old daughter what she thinks of a 60 year old man putting on an earring. She said it is wrong. The earring aside, there are o they other pertinent issues that are wrong with this man. What are they? Call it mucene if you want...

I would lose respect for him if he bowed to pressure and removed the earring. Divorce is no longer a good reason to weigh a person's credibility there are many couples miserably hanging on to unhappy marriages. I would rather a divorced man over a corrupt one anytime when it comes to justice.

Here's a question:
Assuming you were wrongly accused, would you rather face a corrupt judge, a judge that has happily served in a corrupt system or one who granted his wife a divorced when things didn't work out?

BBI will solve it

Exactly my point this moral fabric of you have to be married to be a role model is what is killing and making us kill the people we live with.
Mutunga should not be swayed he has the qualifications hence he needs to stand his point and wait the politicians to politic but i hope he will be given the job.

What is the job description? Does he have what it takes to do that job? If yes, I dont care if he reports to work in skins and hides.

@Magigi,

Great questions you have put across. Of course the society expects that a person holding such position be a role model. The earring is quite a put off. It is even more worse going by the reason for the earring and especially when viewed by Christians. The issue of his marriage also attracts a few questions. The guy is not any where near perfect. And in any case who is perfect?

But then, when we look at his credentials in academic, professional, social justice and integrity, none of the guys who presented themselves came closer to that. He is a guy of strong character (at least form what we hear).

Now that his positive attributes if put into practice will be felt throughout Kenya and will for once bring happiness to many, I guess it would be easier for us to do the hard work of teaching our Children that it is not good for a man to wear an earring. Let us be the role models of our children and we will have nothing to fear about Mutunga.

By the way, I am sure you know of this guy who says he is born again but is in court every now and then because of corruption and is also facing murder charges. Now, which character would you rather settle for?

Time will tell whether he does or doesn't have what it takes to get the job done, i.e, if he succeeds to land the job...

Charity begins at home. It takes wisdom and character to raise a family. Its this values we need in the public domain. Why do you think the Americans are so sensitive with their leaders family life?? Your family is the acid test of the morals and values you posses, period.
The main thing is making the main thing the main thing.
