I love the aggressiveness of the prepaid meter roll out.. rumors that 35-45%..and effectively entire NaiRobi households now "forcibly" on prepaid..

Translating to;
+ significant cut on overheads associated with reading meters, maintaining meters, disconnecting..reconnecting... etc smile
+ Defaultin on bills effectively erradicated.. once prepaid meter is activated..every reload u do goes to pay up piled up bill.. better still..no "fixer" to come reconnect u once u are out of power! smile smile
+ fuel levy passed on to consumers..
+ etc etc..

i'm thinking..2009 was good...2010 better.. first half 2011..was difficult yet they outdid previous year awesomely.. second half ending soon.. smile
..no wonder the share crouched to 22.50 unseen..

The only industrial worth smiling over!

Kengen is stuck with a moratorium on increasing price it charges kplc per kwh..

Teheheheheheh! me likey! me likey very mucho!

@ProverB, translates to the bottom line if they shed staff, otherwise the fixed costs are still the same, worse still, efficiency down as idle former meter readers wander along the corridors of KPLC offices making small chat...

And if it will somehow translate to better services to the mteja... what is the use of "better collection" for sparks distribution?

I was looking at the five year strategic plan for KPLC and it's so conservative http://www.kplc.co.ke/fi..._Plan_13-4-2011__2_.pdf

Revenue gains from new customer connections(approximately 5% on average of annual total revenue)

It happens that most new connex are coming in under the successful R.E.P. When we take a longer term view, it is my expectation that significant consumption growth will come out increased socio-economic activity @ county govt.level effective after next years elections. ..impunity.. everyone in stocks begun at the "kawaida mwananichi" level..u cannot enforce empowerment.

KPLC.. and any competitive company..three things matter to the owners (shareholders)
..larger profit margins
..cheaper costs of operations
..improved efficiency..

kplc is now fully engaged on all 3 fronts.

@Gordon Gekko.. it's far much cheaper having idle staff roaming corridors than roaring 250cc suzukis around the country don't you think?
