I got a chance to talk to some of my pals who have set-up PE firms in Kenya and in-turn came about a myriad of investors who are so disillusioned by some of these guys that it begs the question as to why set-up shop in the first place.
The $M question is can a Private Equity firm be run by an accountant or worse by an IB guy??
In other news HSBC have set up an IB arm in Kenya and JP is opening shop in Kenya later this year..What does this mean/say?? and how will they mitigate the biggest issue of setting up shop in Africa
