You think at Stockmaster made money in the 1Q...think again...@stockmaster 3% return adjusted to inflation of 12% is what?

Was inflation 12% for 4 months OR was it 12% for 1Q or was it annualized?

Since you are better informed than I why dont u give us inflation figures for 1Q 2011..lets see if they will be 3%?
I wouldn't be asking the question if I knew... I am using the number you quoted. Don't get prickly... I am trying to figure it out as well... ;-)

Inflation rate is yoy thus annualized:
1. Jan. - 5.42%
2. Feb. - 6.53%
3. March - 9.19%
The bureau of statistics broadened its base scope which now looks at food prices as we as transportation.
Basically using simple maths the inflation rate for the first qtr using Dec-2010 as a base can't be over 5% nor lower than 3%. Getting a precise rate as of now is hard coz i don't know the base year they are using as of now due to the changes made.

Inflation for Q1 is 4.79% while inflation for 4 months is 8.15%. Stocksmaster portfolio growth of 3% should be compared with the 4 months inflation of 8.15. NOTE: Inflation is seriously biting this year.

@investor - Just so I am clear.

The actual inflation for 4 months is 8.15% [which mean annualized is around 25%?]

8.15/4 x 12 = 25

[Ngai! I can believe it coz fuel & food are much pricier!!!]

Ceteris paribus, the annualized inflation for 2011 is 25% as you have put it. We really need to call the Ngai for our government to take actions to cushion the country from further spike in prices

Nop annualized inflation cannot be 25%. April's inflation is at around 12.05% (annualized) & thus by any measure it can't add up to 25%.

12.05% is the ACTUAL inflation for the 1 year from April 2010 to April 2011. Ceteris paribus, the annualized inflation for the 1 year starting Jan 2011 to Dec 2011 should be 25%

Ama kuna wengine special!
Sad

Withholding tax on dividends is 15% - if you are a non-resident, which maybe @impunity is. It is 5% for mortal residents like me. With holding taxes on interest however is 15% for residents, I think it is 20% for non-residents.

witholding tax on dividends is 5% for locals and 10% for foreigners plus all east africans are considered local..
