Now all of a sudden the 'analysts' are expceting the results to resonate across the industry. Bure tu. bdafrica shouldn't report just anything. But then again, they wouldn't be bdarica

@vvs you really do believe it would be better to control lending rates as opposed to controlling fuel pricez??

Control neither.
That's my point! Control all or none in a free economy. When you do stuff in half measures, there is rent-seeking.

An investor will say... hey, let's open a bank coz there are NO price controls... but then who will open a price/profit controlled capital intensive petrol/fuel business?

guru, do you support the fuel price controls?

100% agreement. Fuel impacts every part of our life... These days it even generates part of our electricity..
There needs to be control but it should be fair...
@vvs I think you would verify these by analysing how many countries control fuel and the number that regulate lending ratez
Nonsense! Just coz 19/20 say the sun revolves around the earth does not make it so!

The bottomline is that encourage COMPETITION not control it!

Perhaps we should regulate health premiums so Jubilee charges no more than NHIF. Health care affects us even more than petroleum as fuel... Why should Jubilee be allowed to charge more than NHIF?

Can a society survive without petrolem fuel? Yes.
Can a society survive without health care? No.
Can a society survive without 'banking'? No, in my opinion.

Show me any industry or country where price controls have worked perfectly?
[There is always an element of rent-seeking or corruption or shortages]

I love it. Not only about the results, but because finally people are working hard to analyses performance, give reasoning behind market behavior, outlook and investor actions. It reminds me of why i joined this club. Not to read mindless chatter about how my stock will outdo your stock or some lazy half-comer looking for a tip on where to throw his money. Ha HA! This market punishes performers, check out Co-op today. I say the best time to buy KCB (for those who have not already) is next week after Q1 numbers because whether good or bad the stock price will take a hit!
