While every one else around the world is working on Easter, Kenyans are home bumming and drinking away their money for an almost full week of Easter holiday. As if that is not enough they will be home again next Monday because May day falls on a Sunday....Surely how do we catch up with the rest of the world economy? Good luck my fellow Patriots!

At some point i think its also good for economy and life. Atleast you have time to spend what you earn. Do you know how many people commit suicides in these so called countries with few holidays coz they are always stressed about work. We infact need more holidays to relax and for those guys who always say am at work and no time for families there will be no excuse. You need to see your family at times and spend quality time with them

Achieving Vision 2030 is a tall task and the whole world knows about our impeccable work ethic. So we need these breaks, I am feeling so refreshed right now!!

Wacha we get holidays. its natures way of balancing things out.. dont forget the dev. countries do get good vacation in the name of safari to Africa.. the japaneese being workaholics commit too much suicide.. and i had in the US getting a Holiday is not an easy task(diaspora can confirm) Germans on the other hand have decided to fore go children so that at least they can enjoy their hard earneds...

Wacha watu wajienjoy.. even the govt gave us some undeserved breaks was it in 08 or 09 so that stress zipungue na angers towards govt zipungue..

Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you
You want us to drop dead. There many factors that cotnribute to the fact that Kenya is behind developed countries and Holidays is the least of them.I feel so refreshed and energized today.Hope we could have more.

I agree, too many holidays should be the least of our worries. South Africa is ahead of us, and had exactly the same holiday as we just concluded - actually have more - independence day tomorrow, and then Labour Day. Chinese have twelve calendar days for leave annually; but then their holidays get lumped up together - that effectively they give 10-12 continuous days off duty.

@ Simplicity, Kenyans are very hardworking and will certainly recover the four days of rest. In all fairness, Easter is not celebrated in Kenya only, and neither is Labour Day.

And since we work hard, we need a little rest to catch up with ourselves. I sure had fun and relaxed. Looking forward to next weekend already!!
....above all, to stand.

FYI - China and Egypt each have 16 public holiday days/yr; India, Indonesia, Thiland, and Morocco each have 15 days/yr; Malysia, South Korea, and Chile each have 13 days. KENYA has 11 public holiday days/yr. I think there is no statistically significant relationship between the # of public holidays and the level of development. So, Kenyans enjoy your public holidays
