Alcoholism is a problem that needs to be tamed across all age brackets in Kenya. Due to the drinking culture,the bar/pub has the dubious distinction as the fastest growing business today. They are opened everywhere in estates,near educational institutions etc. regardless of the social economic impact which speaks volumes of our misguided priorities.

To demonstrate how low we have sunk,joints like Upper Hills Springs (which is a bar by all definitions) have become family hang out joints on Sunday afternoon simply by providing entertainment for kids e.g. bouncing castles while the adults indulge with their favourite past time,booze. There are even dancing competitions for kids where little boys and girls wiggle they little behinds as grown up adults cheer.

Our problem is not laws but enforcement since laws exist for closing time,licensing,prohibiting minors etc. It is a well known fact that cops receive cash from bar/pub owners and only enforce the laws to extort bribes. Consequently,the proposed law will not not work with the existing enforcement as it will only provide a new avenue for bribes.

Well what i know is that if the age limit is pushed to 30 may will loose jobs and may be tantamount to felling a mugumo tree with a razor blade so i dont really get something out of Githae's mind,over 18 is the point

Githae ana zake 30 haiwezekani......... 21 is even impossible nowadays....students get alcohol right outside the school compound...when these students go for school outings they have the freedom to drink anything including drugs..there was once a story that students wa unable to perfom in a Music festival coz they wa totally drunk!!

@reithi...kenya has become a 24HRS operating country and the pple have suddenly become soo busy such that the only time they have of spending time with their friends loved ones and children is on weekends..... and what better way of killing several birds with one stone than hook up in the bar/restaurants where the kids can have their good time as the grown ups catch up with friends and family.....
