Interesting portfolio. looks like you come to the bash when the goat has been slaughtered you were late in getting into mumias and you were left behind when the music in the game of musical chairs stopped. You also getting in late on jubilee and KCB looks like you are chasing moving buses, please avoid jumping into a moving bus unless you are going to the last stop. Try boarding a bus which is yet to leave the station like KPLC and the oversold counters.

Are you on the board of CABLES? How did you get it to 50 p.c of your portfolio? smile

smile It was doing very badly and i couldn't sell... before i started selling BBK, KCB AND EQTY, cables was under 20%.

do the above percentages relate to the proportions of a given amount say 2m of your investment or do they relate to your stake in the respective companies?

I hold everything you do except Cables and HFCK.

I have been restructuring my portfolio from end of last year. I was heavily weighted in financials but decided to spread 25% each in Commercials, Financials and Industrials. The other 25% is for speculation. I have divested from SCB, EQUITY and sort of brought Financials to near the target 25%. I also decided to have an anchor stock in each category, and have KQ, KCB and KK for this. I will however shift whatever I have in NIC for Jubilee at some point.
For speculation I'm holding Mumias which I will dump at 12 when it gets there.

I speculated heavily with KQ last year... bei ya mafuta... is it a local (kenya problem)... how much do the price changes affect KQ?

Mumias is one of my long term anchors... I'm banking mostly on the delta project... I'm watching the news for anything from COMESA though...

Generally I think banks will be on the upwards at least for the next 3years... I sold out when the market went south but I think I'm going back in... i concur with you on Jubilee... entry price / exit price??

Interesting portfolio, but without seeing average cost, its difficult to give detailed advice.
I never hold more than 3 stocks in a stock exchange. I'd advice sell-off EA Cables (weaker Ksh and price of copper will mean higher cost of sales. TC are the investment group they were with the late James Gachui as chair & also Kibaki going will not favor them).

Not sure why you hold BBK, but if u must I'd swap it with StanCHart for the same proportion.

I'd sell MSC (future will be difficult unless we get another economist/developer as Rais). I'd also sell HFCK. I'd place proceeds of the above sales in Equity.
Finally, I'd look for one of the Aga Khan companies. Any is good...

What's wrong with BBK... its bigger and with better earnings than SCB?

I agree about dumping HFCK for EQTY... and about Aga Khan... can't figure what price to enter DTB if at all

you were late in getting into mumias I am in mumias heavily... check my numbers. I'm sure you have no idea when i got in.
and you were left behind when the music in the game of musical chairs stopped.

You also getting in late on jubilee and KCB looks like you are chasing moving buses, please avoid jumping into a moving bus unless you are going to the last stop.maybe ur right on KCB... i had JUB and won't lose much if i wake up tommorrow and just choose to buy at market.... did it close at 210

Try boarding a bus which is yet to leave the station like KPLC and the oversold counters.i know little on KPLC so no comment

Genghis Khan, on Mumias, COMESA period likely to be extended.
On DTB, try maybe when the share goes ex-bonus. Like guys who did the same for NIC. Some got it at 41. It has reached a high of 47 today
