RO's correct choice of a running mate in 2012 might be what will make or break his ambitions to be president. Let's be honest here, it has to be a kyuk. A Lunje would have worked since getting a Kale is not possible now but Lunjes are too segmented, Eugine, Wetangula, Kombo, Mudavadi, Jirongo, Bifwoli....

How I see it, the only hope RO has is ONLY Peter Kenneth agrees to be his running mate. What are your thoughts?

Disclaimer: Now before you accuse me of being tribal just remember the profile of the Kenyan voter whose vote really counts and it's not mine or yours.

BBI will solve it

A kikuyu would be ideal to be Raila's deputy but kikuyu currently are so fixated with UK. Remember what Kamotho once said even a dog would have been voted for in Mlima kenya rather than KANU. so trying a person from central Kenya to be VP might be futile.

Please note that the current politics of MLIMA kenya are not favourable to Peter Kenneth Huko mashinani he is being discredited left right centre. I dont think Kikuyus will vote RAO because of PK. Infact PK is being viewed as a TRAITOR by the community. Choosing a running mate from western kenya will not be right as other kenyans will not accept power to be concentrated in western Kenya and Nyanza. Things are ngumu for RAILA.

At the risk of being lynched, have they ever voted for any other community?

my thoughts is;
For Raila to succeed,he has to get a running mate from Eastern part of Kenya (this includes central,NEP,Coast and the like) since Nyanza is in Western part, but all in all,i think the guy has lost in big time and NO people in Eastern part of kenya have confidence in him coz of his frequent change of goal posts.
Also, the Eastern part people (especially central) believe that Raila will revenge against what he keeps on saying traditional injustices against the Luo people. This is what makes him very unpopular and i do not think he has enough time to prove himself beyond that Eastern mentality.

My own observation is if Ocampo case will be thrown out before August 2012,UK and WR will have it big tyme as President and Deputy respectively and they know this because of the masses they are commanding.

I have been to Gatanga many times and I can tell you there's no one more respected there than PK and by extension he is the most respected and most progressive politician in Central. RO needs someone who's credibility cannot be questioned and that is PK.

@runjam wrote Am one and i voted for RAO in 2007!!! ...I'm not disputing that, what i'm saying is "as a block" if not many of them...I do believe others vote across the board...
@Burning spear....between UK and WR, who would step aside for the other, if UK steps aside will his followers vote for WR?
Qn2. I keep wondering, if these two guys are reconciled by the Hague process, can't the IDPs then go back to their land....why resettle them? and if resettling, who is willing to allow them as neighbours? The Maasai already rejected resettling near Narok, the Taita also rejected resettlement in "their" land....this is a catch 22 situation. Reading today's paper, you will see that the responsibbility to resettle lies within the Fiance, Lands and Special programs docket with Finance as the lead....

PK might be popular in his constituency and maybe among members of his community residing in the urban areas. But UK is far more popular in Central,
than any other politician.

I was in shagz ( mukuruwe-ini ) and tried understanding how the rural folk decide who to vote. I was surprised. This guys can't vote for sme1 not in their community. I suggested RAO to my grandma, and made her understand why maybe he is the best among the lot. I was lucky not to get cursed. Sometimes , what a specific candidate has achieved is actually irrelevant. WR could actually be more popular than PK due to his perceived alliance with UK.

It is clear , by looking at the way PK has developed his constituency, that he is far much better than UK in terms of economic reform. But there ( grassroots ) what is more interesting is the way UK talks in public ( especially when he uses abusive language in vernacular ). He looks like a hero. And btw, these people are very hard to convince.

Things like thus make it extremely difficult to analyse the Kenyan political landscape. RAO best strategy is to have a kiuk running mate. But I can bet this will be very difficult.

I guess this would not materialise not even a single minute.

While I am a strong opponent to Raila Odinga,I do not prefer Uhuru either but if I had only one choice to make,i would be like the americans...Lets support a younger person in Uhuru Kenyatta (in wikileaks),he seems to have a vision for kenya than Rao.

Rao will most likely keep Musalia. The other guy you all have ignored is Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. He falls nowhere in the Ruto-Uhuru axis and should look for another team which will not waste him.

@shali tell him. If RAO dumps musalia, a mass walkout by luhyas is highly likely. In other words, the ol' man is done for. Accross the rift, UK remains popular, period. Karua nje. PK stands to gain the most if the two kings have a case to answer, due to his neutrality n silence (very strategic) on the ocampo scandal. All the same, game bado young.

nostoppingthis makes a lot of sense. Assuming the 2 thugs don't get jailtime at the Hague as they should, will WR get any votes in Central? Will Uk get any votes in the Rift? And will WR accept to be kingmaker again?
PK looks good and I sincerely wish he stands.
He'd be completely different from everybody we have on the menu now.

The enigma is way up there.....the rest are distant runner ups.Enigma has my vote and with a very cool guy like PK , that's a a very beautiful 'tag' team that will leave all the thugs gasping for air.
