Fergie knows that owen would accept a lower salary. This is business,striking a balance between football and accounts.

A likely impossibility is always preferable to an unconvincing posibility.

Its ridiculous for any Man Utd fan to refer to Michael Owen as a world class player....he might have been but not now. Have you ever wondered why Fergie is always keen on signing british players regardless of the transfer fee involved and the player's physical fitness. As far as i'm concerned this is just another way of influencing the FA's conduct towards the big four.

If Fergie couldn't revive Hagreaves career what makes you think he will have a positive influence on Owen (michael)?
