So far 2 great saves from Van der Sar to deny Torres 2 goal chances.

So United finally break the hoodoo at the bridge. This is a great result to take back to Old Trafford for the 2nd leg!

This tie is obviously far from over but I'll take the 1 - 0 advantage any day.

The jinx of almost a decade has now been broken.

Chelsea may complain about a few decisions but well, Man U's luck had to change at some point with regard to refereeing decisions.

I have had a glimpse of the glorious red devils in the final.

GO UNITED!

Lackluster Chelsea at the Bridge. The 2nd leg at Old Trafford a do or die for Chelsea.

Barcelona thump Shakhtar Donetsk 5:1! Well, that tie looks like it's over. Real Madrid Vs Barcelona in the Semis.
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

Wohoo! Finally, we get an away goal and a win! Waiting to hear Mutua wa Arsenal on Chelsea failure.

We had chances to make it two and really make it hard for Chelsea but an away win by a solitary goal still gives us an edge. 2nd leg there should be no mistake coz Chelsea will come out attacking and I know we can get them on the counter.

It was great to have Rio back, sooner than expected, his experience was telling. Rafael once again showed he can be a liability in big games by injuring himself unnecessarily tackling Drogba who at the time was being marshalled by another Man Utd player as well...now he has injured his knee after coming back from a hamstring injury - the boy has a long way to go, talented as he is. The subs confused everyone and I was surprised how well Valencia played right back.

Truly VdS is irreplaceable...I'm seeing Manuel Neuer or Hugo Lloris as the main contenders. In other news, 657 minutes without scoring for Torrestina. Now Chelsea know how we felt after Luiz was not sent off in the EPL game at the bridge after screaming murder for the Ramirez penalty call - what goes around comes around, hoepfully not at OT.

I don't see Shaktar and Spurs recovering nor Inter pulling another comeback like they did against Bayern - the OT match is all to play for and tactics will win the game. Back to the league

For the first time in a long time, Carrick had a great game in a big match!!!!!

...Rooney is getting back his best form just at the right time!!!!

...Torres going the Shevchenko way!!!......Carlo could not substitute him just coz Roman was on the pitch, Drogba was more dangerous on the pitch than the spaniard!!!!!

Craziest decision of the night! Drogba was far much better than Torres and it was obvious who was to be substituted but alas!!! Carlo should 'grow' some balls. You've got to make decisions for the team, not a the owner or an over-hyped individual. By the way I was surprised that Torrestina's first short yesterday was his second short on target in Chelsea colours!!! From January? Seriously!?

I think it's still too early to call this one.

BBI will solve it

1 - 0 is a slim lead, I'll give you that. All Chelsea have to do is score one goal and we are back where we started. And the goal could be from a corner, free kick, dubious penalty kick, own goal - anywhere. 1 - 0 and we are in extra time. 2 - 1 or any other win for Chelsea and they are through. As someone said, we should have got at least 2 unanswered away goals to make it really difficult for Chelsea.

Having said that I'd rather be on the winning side of a 1 - 0 equation than on the losing side. And I suspect there will be some sort of squad rotation over the weekend with the likes of Barbatov starting, Rooney probably on the bench (an unused sub if it all goes well) - depending on how his appeal goes, Giggs rested, Chicharito playing the last 20 - 30 minutes, Owen getting some play time, Scholes playing some role, Smallings deputizing for Rio again etc. It will all of course depend on SAF's analysis of Fulham. We obviously can't afford to drop points in the EPL.

Rooney unfortunately will have to sit out the Fulham game on Sato and the FA semi against shitty...quite a loss seeing how he has peaked when needed most - will be a true test for Berba and Chicha. I always have a feeling that Rooney felt let down by the team last season when hoe got injured towards the end and we lost the league to Chelsea...though I think that had more to do with a the long absence of both Rio and Vidic.

It'll be great to have Anderson and Fletcher in the final stretch to cater for any injuries picked up - the longer we stay in CL the likelier the injuries

Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause Thought exactly the same.Drogba must have been wondering when the clown would be substituted with a supportive patnering striker like Anelka or Kalou kumbe he was the one on the chopping plans of the coach.

I'm certain that whoever gets the tactics right between SAF and Carlo will win that match and stand a great chance of reaching the final, assuming Schalke finish the job on Wed, not that they'll be a walkover.

I have a feeling that Chelsea want this more than Man Utd, it's the only trophy they have to play for and want revenge for the 2008 finals. However, wanting it and getting it are two different things.

Both squads are almost all in but boy aren't I happy David Luiz is not playing. This is one game where a blunder will mean the difference, I hope it falls for us. Any early goal for either team might be the difference too..

Good to know I could deputize for SAF if given a chance. But do I say?

Man U - The players, management, fans and most importantly the manager - want this badly. I kid you not. SAF doesn't want to talk about the treble loudly but I don't think there is anyone associated with Man U who's not thinking about it. It's too close I can smell it. We keep our act together and the EPL is coming back home - we are in the driving seat. The biggest obstacle between us the FA cup is Man Shitty. We beat Chelsea tomorrow and odds are in our favour to reach the final of the CL. I have utmost respect for all the other teams we are going to meet but I have to call it as I see it.

Now we have five very personal games. The CL and EPL games against Chelsea - to avenge all the referee assisted "victories" of the past. Arsenal - to show them who's the boss, Man Shitty - Noisy neigbours - plus there is that cup drought countdown, currently at 35. We don't want to restart at 0. And finally Barca - That CL final defeat should be avenged with a loss to Man U in this year's CL final.

A loss to Chelsea tomorrow would have terrible repercussions to our season, it can't even be allowed to happen. It might cost us the FA and to a smaller extent the EPL. Morale might hit rock bottom.

I agree @Maich,the one thing SAF has been concerned about over the years is that Man Utd have not won enough CL's to be regarded highly in the same manner as Real and AC and to a lesser extent Bayern and Liverpool...I believe if we had nabbed VdS earlier (after he left Ajax) we'd have won a couple more but that's in the past (and is neither here nor there as politicians would say)

Beating Barca in a final for me would be the ultimate achievement, truly orgasmic to say the least. Time will tell
