-Obi Wan - I've heard thrilling tales of former USSR Ukranian pilots landing smaller Tupolevs on murram runways in jungle areas,These hard core, vodka inebriated pilots would work as freelancers, smuggling goods, helping drug lords ship their stuff out of South America/Vietnam/Afghanistan,or ferrying mercenaries to mineral rich war torn areas (Sierra LEone,Angola, etc those days at least). After the cold war and the breaking of the USSR,these aircraft just like the Ukranian pilots were available a dime a dozen. I recall on CNN's 'worlds untold stories' a feature about the smuggling of cacitrite (tin?) using such aircraft - the footage actually showed a dirt road, with a bend towards the end, being used as a runway for such aircraft - carrying HEAVY cargo - only those hard core guys (and aircraft) would dare work in such conditions and take such risks - with that dirt road,if the craft does not get enough thrust and lift by the bend, then .....
