If you are one of many Kenyans who still hang on to the tribal chief mentality and are keen on any of the 'tribal chiefs' so far fielding themselves for presidency come 2012, you need to stop hesitating and go to Kigali. See for yourself the mass grave of over a million people - and more are brought in every other week. see the images in there and listen to how politicians much like our own whipped up emotions and led a country to the unthinkable. Go during the anniversary and maybe the graves will be open - you can walk among the boxes piled one on another, some skeletons exposed, see the photos of victims - some little children who knew no tribe/affiliation. Look into the eyes of the slayers who just weeks before were good neighbours with their victims, who today cannot explain how they came to heed the call to arms - a madness they did not think possible. Their actions not plausible, their guilt unfathomable. Their thirst for blood worse than a vampire's, men who days before would not wield a simple fimbo, armed then with machetes, pangas, anything - not to injure or maime, but take lives - and decapitate the bodies, rape women and destroy lives and wreck livelihoods.

JUST BECAUSE A POLITICIAN SAID 'KILL THEM'
JUST BECAUSE A POLITICIAN SAID.....

Kampala coach will cost you 1800 X 2 and you are there and back. You could travel 13h00, fika Kigali 11h00, see the museum for 2 hours and be back by the 14h00 bus. Spend your return journey thinking about just how bad things could turn out if we dont make a choice to ignore the 'empty debes'! Rwanda air will cost you US$200.

If you/we cannot think ourselves out of this predicament, then let fear arouse you from the stupor brought on by our tribal tendencies, affiliations to tribal parties, 'kings' and pure ignorance.

Whatever you do, go to Kigali before 2012 elections, then let's find not just a president, but an entire team - that will not take our country to that abyss. No one is perfect, but we can do better as a country.

As Sigiriri says, perhaps its we the pawns who need to make this trip. A politician will never change his address as a result of the effects of his statements.
