I am pretty uncomfortable and not used in speculative trading i have lost and made huge gains while trading with Volatile stocks....

I seriuosly need someone who has mastered art of speculative trading so that he/she can pass tips on how to cut your losses and pick your gains before they vapourize....

Here is my example using three stocks:

Principal sum invested: 200K

NBK Example:

This is one of the most volatile stocks:

Monday: Buy 4,000 shares @ 50 on prompt board (Reason being the stock being volatile can go either way, this will ensure that you can cut your losses earlier and take your profits quicky than buying on normal board)

Wednesday to Friday: Sell at 55 or even above depending on how lucky your are.

Breakdown

Amount risked $203,600
Break even unit price $51.834
Lower re-purchase $53.055
Amount lost to fees $7560
Commission $7560
On purchase $3600
On sale $3960
Amount recovered $216,040
Profit margin 6%
Net profit on sale $12,440

SGL Example

Buy 51

Sell 58

No. of shares: 4000

Buying should be done on prompt and selling on Normal Board.

Breakdown

Amount risked $207672
Break even unit price $52.871
Lower re-purchase $54.984
Amount lost to fees $7776
Commission $7776
On purchase $3672
On sale $4104
Amount recovered $223896
Profit margin 8%
Net profit on sale $16224

Latest Scenerio: Everready

Buy at 4 Bob

Sell at 6 Bob

No. of Shares: 50,000

Amount risked $203600
Break even unit price $4.147
Lower re-purchase $5.788
Amount lost to fees $9000
Commission $9000
On purchase $3600
On sale $5400
Amount recovered $294600
Profit margin 45%
Net profit on sale $91000

This kind of trading requires masters and Hawked eye guys who watch keenly and notices unseen opportunity before the opportunity window closes.....i am nowhere that level

@ Jammo,Njunge and the rest......anyone who has mastered the art of speculationtor and he/she is willing to guide a fellow brother....kindly coach me on this....i am looking for a mentor here...

Pliz share your principle and your own devised rules you have learnt and proved them over time.....

Keep them coming....

The greatest thing with the volatile counters is the volume traded. For instance you cant get everedy 50,000 unless you accumulate over time.
The same applies to selling.

The real measure of wealth is how much you'd be worth if you lost all your money.

@seles83.. if you've already tried it you realise that by thursday things arent going actually as you expected..??....more less perfoming under par. The simpler the strategy better

What i'd do.... based on cash i have (200,000).. split into even lots that cover 8-10 trading days... buy every other one day...ie monday,wednesday,friday,tuesday,thursday..monday... at lowest possible price... until whole ammount is in. then..and only then.. move on. You realise this works better with a bigger amount... A million put in Equity since mid may is actually worth slightly more than 1.3m today at yesterday's price..By the way..still buyin..... LEVEL OUT THE FLACTUATIONS AND GIVE IT TIME...you don't set out to day trade... you just find yourself in an opportunity to do it..prompt board or none.

Get in gradually..slowly. What you suggest is possible..having tried it..and will keep you scared especially if market closes on downturn..the adrenaline rush should be reserved for fear factor!!!

'..and it came to pass..' so did we!
This market will probably outlive us. Wacha pupa!!u can't have it all.

Allow me to sound a little bit uninformed but what is the diffrence between prompt and normal board? which is the better between the two and what you should consider while chosing one?

It works and i have always done that. Remember the wise saving that the fundamentals will prevail at the end. I say the speculation is the first fundamental in this market.

To make it better,i play with stocks that are less than 40shs. I have just made a killing from eveready. A low valued share will attract more flunctuations and a smal change in shilling will result to a higher percentage.

However,to do it successfully,do not be greedy, target yourself to make 15-20% and sell off quickly. Remember the more time you rotate your money the end result is a huge percentage.

My playing grounds are eveready, sameer, total, kengen, centum, unga, sasini etc. Virtually low priced. Remember,if you loose more than 15%,sell off at a loss and rotate the money!

I have been trading for sometime now but never new nothing about SELLING/BUYING on PROMPT/NORMAL BOARDS.

Just place my orders thru the net stating if it's Best Price or Specific and that's it..Can someone enlighten me...
