Politics is about numbers which Rao doesn't have at the moment....UK, Ruto & Co still have the numbers to reject any nominees Raila comes up with in parliament. You might hate these two but they know they have all the support they need to worry the PM.

then they should use their 'numbers' to stop digging.

if the nominees can be persons who are not affiliated to any side as we kenyans want, they will be hard pressed to reject that person.

if they do, it will be a confirmation to the world that kenyas parliament is up to no good. they will have dug a little deeper. they will effectively hasten the hague process they are so desperate to avoid. then the pm will be relaxing in kibera selling mandazi as they rot in cells.

strategic thinking is clearly not their strong points. brute force is.

@sicheki, parliaments role is not bribing you. This role has developed slowly due to the ordinary kenyans thirst for free stuff and corruption. The CDF thing came up because kenyans were emptying their Mps accounts with their beggar mentality. @rahatupu, i hear you, but i dont think there is any impunity here. As mukiha has pointed out, we are now in uncertain times. We might have other such cases soon.

I do not see the Solomonic wisdom that our good Speaker applied in this matter. This was natural common sense! As I see it, the current impasse is the cornerstone of the whole implementation of our new Constitution. Kenya won!

On the ruling I don't think there was anything solomonic, coz the High Court, The Judicial Commission, All civil societies and the Commission on Implementation of The constitution all reached the same decision. Marende just added to that huge pile.........even the though the kings of impunity still have to see the PM's hand in it!!!

Wise ruling. But chances are the politics will only get worse. If the allegiances in parliament stay as they are, the ethnic dimension will rear its ugly head again when the vanquished reject any nominee from the PM's and Mudavadi's home turf. That would be sad cause the country will only become further polarized on ethnic lines. Maybe this is a good opportunity for minority communities to serve in a key position such as CJ as a compromise.

......"If the speaker flouted the constitution by his ruling, wouldn’t it be of national benefit for Ruto to clearly elucidate this fact? Yapping as opposed to constructive argument can mislead the populace that wishes to rely upon and trust our leaders. Furthermore, the body language and speech by Uhuru smacked of a high school student heckling in the dining hall after getting insufficient food"

The more reason why we should have some people already fastening their seatbelts aboard Dutch airlines!

Am not a supporter of RAO. but this stupidity we are seeing with his opponents is just off-putting! Cant Kibaki stand and respect the institutions that have made the decisions and tell everyone to shut up and he starts the process the right way? This is where we call for real men to stand up and be counted! UK and WR have nothing for this country..... all they are doing is fighting to have their exposed behinds covered! Trying to fight Marende in parliaments is trying to bring this country into its knees.... why should we allow some few to behave like this and then tell us that RAO is holding this country in ransom? How is he doing it, may be someone needs to let me understand like a small baby?! If there was consultation, then there will be another one! they are not the ones who are consulting... its Kibaki and Raila! And we havent heard kibaki saying he is tired of "consulting"! What is in it for them that they have to make the loudest noise! They are the noisest telling us what to do with our country when they should be leaving us alone and heading to a land far away in the west!

Something doesnt add up. Picture this. Earlier in the month, when Marende passed the issue to the house committees, he asked the principals to meet and agree, and save the country from all this hullabaloo. The principals met, but never agreed. Now the matter has been declared unconstitutional. The principals will have to meet, again. Even with the input of JSC on the CJ, or advertisements on the other offices, what happens if they dont agree on the CJ, AG, DPP, CoB? Someone? Anyone? Advice. Because this is the grim scenario we are facing.

The UK, SKM and WR camp have answers on all national issues. To them anything that goes against their greedy ambitions is definitely ochestrated by Mr Raira. Looking at Uhuru's press briefing yesterday all thier problems emanates from Raila. the O...campo list, the speakers rulings on the fate of the disputed nomination list and had they lost the Kirinyaga By election it would have been Raira. They sleep dreaming of Raira, walk worried about Raira's plot and wake up the following day planning against Raira. A very sad scenario indeed for national leaders.
