....this thing works like clock-work....just got an alert for today's transaction....it came in at exactly 4:02:46pm...the one on Tuesday came in at 4:02:52.

The difference in timing is only 6 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@MainaT. Thanks for valuable insight. What I imagine is that for 100 online orders for example,the staff don't have to check all entries individually b4 the orders queue for ATS. The broker server can be programmed to check the accs status thus eliminating human influence. It all boils down to integrity of both man n system.

Hotels will always serve the fruits/vegs of the season. In stocks,ur duty as a trader is to identify the HOTshare of the season.

@Mukiha... what's this about physically signing a form... I registered for the service several months ago via sms and its been working like clockwork.. Or maybe they changed the rules and didn't let the oldtimers know....

@Eddy,this will always happen becoz some of us watch the market on realtime basis and place buy orders at lower prices that the lowest sell price at the time. Obviously our prices then become the 'best price'.

I am trading thru D&B with a nominee acnt. Early this year I wrote to CDSC for them to be sending me my statements and this is what they had to say:-

Please note that since the shares are under the broker nominee account the statement can only be send to them and not the client.

Please get in touch with your broker to get a copy of the statement.

This way it's very difficult for me to confirm the real trading prices of my traded shares. By the way I am not saying the Brokers are 'playing' with the prices BUT the fact that 'sales' are executed at the lowest prices and 'purchases' at the highest is somehow disturbing.this is what one need to confirm thru the CDSC. I access my account online and this is being maintained by D&B not CDSC.

Once you state the price FIXED PRICE (Be it sell or purchase) then you have no problem at all. the problem comes in when you quote 'best price'. Sometimes u r forced to trade at BEST PRICE but this should NOT give them the right to 'play' with the transaction prices.

'Tafakari Hisa is a feature that enables an investor to obtain details of his shareholding as per his/her CDSC account .

To register for this service simply follow the following steps:


Step 1: Type a text with the following details


REG*CDSAccount*ID eg REG*298765*22663344

Where -CDS Account excludes the lead zeros and client type.
-ID: Use ID or Passport number that you used to open CDS account

Step 2: Send text to 2372
You will receive a confirmation SMS with your alias and PIN
Once registered,you receive alerts on all transactions in your CDS Account.

To view your Portfolio Balance,send the following text to 2372
PBalias*PIN eg PBKAMA*1234


To view your Mini Statement,send the following text to 2372
MSalias*PIN to 2372 eg MSKAMA*1234

NB:
1. Make sure the phone number you use is the same as that appearing in your CDSC Account opening documents in order to activate this service. If it has since changed,you should visit/instruct your brokerage firm and provide/fill instructions/documentation indicating change of this number.


2. Each SMS is charged at Ksh 10/= - operator charge inclusive.(A small price to pay to ensure that your shares are not sold by an unscrupulous broker.Alerts will be sent whenever a transaction,share allocation or share transfer occurs in your CDS account via SMS to your mobile phone device.)

Thanks. Basically what I was hoping for was a direct NSE investor and CDSC interaction without any human involvement in queing of orders. This currently doesn't exist but implementation of the same is under consideration to avoid 'price manipulation' by brokerage firms.

I've had major issues with D & B executing transactions on time..costing me money in the process. Ruled out dealing with them again. African Alliance are a lot more efficient. Email & phone will work.

For practicality purposes,regard the Prompt board is a dealers domain. Befriend one and 'make money together'...

@Ecstacy. I must say I feel educated at no cost. Being in a rural set up the minimum I would ask for from a broker is an online service. Does African Alliance offer this service? On prompt board,somebody has also recommended African Investment Bank. I'll pay 'em a visit also. Lastly for those who are likely to forget 2372 rem that u use same keys on ur mobile to write CDSC!

Jerry-AA has no online service but will execute your orders fast and accurately most times. Just remember to do Limit orders only.Never ever do best price.

@Mainat. Thanx. The only time I felt that I could've placed a BEST order is when Williamson was selling at 48 and had declared 4/= dvdd. Other than on a material announcement day you can be sure price rise will not exceed 10%. It could hit 100/= by close of books on August 5.
