-what is the real meaning of this word?
-when i hire a consultant, what is his role?
-do you always have to agree with your consultant?
- can i hire and fire a consultant at will?

please wazuans or people in the consultancy business.. help me answer this burning questions.
i now fear hiring a consultant. he/she might end up taking claim of my business.
i have decided to ask this questions because of reports in the media of consultants behaving badly.

Reports in the media of consultants behaving badly is not about a hired consultant, this is a partner, who whom you share 50/50 stake in the company. In this case you have to agree with the consultant, and you dint hire him nor can you fire him.
Doors of opportunity don't just open , they have to be unlocked & it's up to you to turn the knob.

The lesson here is that whether you have a business partner, or hire a consultant (two very different things), always have a good, solid contract that has been notarized and signed in front of witnesses, and ensure that you retain the services of a good attorney to write up the contract.

In addition, be very careful what documents, account numbers, confidential information, etc etc you expose when deal with a consultant, and never, ever, give a consultant, or anyone else, your signing authority or independent access to bank accounts, etc.

For whatever or anything you ever do, always ensure thay you have a good contract in place to safeguard you and whatever you own. That is your security.

thank you for your wise replies
after reading this one of the consultant who had prompted me to write this post has decided to back track from his earlier statements.it seems he has discovered that a significant number of directors and shareholders who had earlier backed him are now with the CEO....

Just for laughs, I read somewhere consultants are people you hire to come look at your watch and tell you the time. Never make a mistake to hand over the watch.
