Rank: Elder Joined: 3/19/2010 Posts: 3,504 Location: Uganda		My favourite intellectually stimulating fm station , the BBC will be sending home more than a quarter of its staff in the next three years and stop broadcasting in several languages. The UK government has reduced its funding to the station and BBC say it has taken the measures to save money. I hope they do not stop broadcasting in english and swahili in East Africa as this has been a main source of reliable information for me. Local station bores me sometimes so much with too much noise and little content. I can listen to BBC for hours without getting bored. punda amecheka

However their world service & online services seems to have bore the brunt of the cuts. They have done away with services to the Portugeese speaking countries in Africa, and also something they call "Englsih for the carribean" BBC is primarily funded by the Tv licences every citizen with a TV in UK pays, hence why they do not advertise. The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

It is called austerity measures and a conservative government!! Huge budget cuts to DFID and a smaller leaner government in general!!
