Kenya Airways Statement on KQ 701
Friday January 21, 2011: Kenya Airways would like to inform its passengers, customers, investors and the public of an incident involving flight KQ 701 from Harare.
The incident involved a tyre lost in the air after it took off at Harare International Airport.
The Boeing 737-300 KQD with 96 passengers and 7 crew landed safely in Nairobi as scheduled at 16.09 local time. JKIA emergency response unit was at hand to receive the aircraft on the runway and was prepared for any eventuality.
The passengers and the crew disembarked the aircraft safely without any reported injuries and were debriefed and counseled according to KQ safety and customer service procedure.
The incident is being investigated by the Kenya Airways and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.
KQ would like to apologize to the passengers of KQ 701 for any inconveniences caused. In the meantime, Kenya Airways would like to thank all the passengers aboard this flight for their calm and understanding and all its customers for their continued support.

Nice PR from KQ, I once flew KQ and in mid-air we got a serious technical fault after 50 or so minutes of flight, we had to turn back and make an emergency landing, this went unreported and the handling of passengers was so poor. I am glad on how they handled this one, maybe its because it caught the medias attention, nevertheless its good it wasnt fatal and this will not affect the price but KQ has to put its focus on safety
